Yale: “Team 142” Celebrates at Annual Banquet

After a season in which the Bulldogs paid tribute to every Yale football team that had come before them by adopting the moniker “Team 142”, the theme Monday night at the annual team banquet in Commons was an appreciation for the past combined with hope for the future. The Bulldogs had just concluded an 8-2 campaign (5-2 in the Ivy League), finishing with the team’s best overall record since 2007 and its best league mark since 2010. This was the third year with Tony Reno as Yale’s Joel E. Smilow ’54 Head Coach of Football, and the Elis have improved their won-lost record (compared to the previous season) in each of the last two years with him at the helm. That trend made for an upbeat mood even as the Bulldogs bid farewell to their 20 seniors Monday night.
