Man, when they hired him, I thought it was a great fit. I'm not sure they can do better. I hope they can. Just a tough job.

I remembah Diles Sr doing the Prudential College Scoreboard on ABC in the 1970s....

VMI must be one of the toughest FCS jobs in the country....

Good guy. Too bad. I think VMI needs somebody that can move a mountain and there aren't too many of those guys around.

Hate this for Coach Woods. Good luck with your new hire VMI.

Can VMI hire Jamie Chadwell out of Chuck South?

Can VMI hire Jamie Chadwell out of Chuck South? Would be an excellent hire. Chadwell has won everywhere he's been. If WCU hadn't landed Speir, I and others wanted Chadwell to be the new coach. Glad we got Speir, but JC could turn VMI around I think. GO CATS!

It will take a special person to win at VMI.

Chadwell looks like a guy who is going places, but the VMI job may be a career killer for him, and I doubt he would be interested. For similar reasons, I doubt many young coaches would be interested.

VMI's best bet would be an experienced D2 or D3 head coach who wants to coach another 5-10 years, but wants to move up.

VMI has many of the same challenges as the Citadel, but with significantly less institutional support.

I'd like to see Kevin Higgins go there, just because.

Paul Hamilton. Been at D2 Brevard since 2007 and has actively sought out other jobs. Got to figure he'll apply for this one as well.

He might be a good candidate. he did the best he could at ETSU with a president out to get rid of football. He wasn't a good fit at Elon, and having his son play QB caused issues.

My understanding is that when it comes to VMI's struggles on the gridiron, the school's superintendent might want to look in the mirror.

VMI is just a mess and has been for quite a while. How a school that DEMANDS excellence can settle for what they have got on the field has always made me scratch my head......

Kevin Higgins is right where he belongs. Glad he took his talents away from Charleston.

Because not enough VMI alums bleed and care about the athletics portion of the VMI experience.....

After being so long in the dumps, might be tough to turn that general malaise around...

If VMI hires Higgins, he will turn things around there.

I think Hamilton could do fine at VMI. He came to us from Air Force. He could be the coach they need.

Chadwell would be good, except that he might be biding his time for Torbush to retire. I really see Chadwell at ETSU.

I don't think he would be interested in trying to rebuild at another military school. I suspect the job he has at Wake Forest may be his last in coaching.
