This line on the NCAA web page made me chuckle a bit:

The NCAA Division I Football Championship provides for a maximum field of 24 teams

Maximum? Makes it sound like some years they aren't going to fill all 24 spots LOL.

Barring something crazy uni will be hosting a 7 pm central winning time game next Saturday.

Sounds as though the UNI ticket office has already given that much out.... Or at least that's what they view as most lonely and are planning on

It won't be as uni is hosting the MVC conference vb tourney abd the title game is at 4 pm that day. Also rifjt before that volleyball game is a mens home basketball game in the same arena at 1 pm (connected to the dome) means anything kicking before 6 is out of the question.

I believe the early games the host school sets the time and there is a 100 or deny chance of hosting (only Montana would out bid UNI for teams that opening weekend)

I suspect the visiting team to be out of this group: NAU, San Diego, Cal Poly, McNeese, Sacred Heart or the second ovc team

I predict a Southland or CAA opponent for UNI but that could change if ISUB chokes against WIU. That might put EKU into play.

San Diego will play a Big Sky team.

I would suppose there would be a selection watch show thread on here if you don't get ESPNU.

3 things to look for.... (that we will all laugh at, but the average ESPNU watcher won't catch).

1. The confusion on the broadcaster's face when he announces Jacksonville right after he announces Jacksonville State.

2. The amount of praise he gives some 9 and 10 win teams, not realizing who they play....PFL/MEAC

3. Confusion on how an undefeated Harvard team didn't get a playoff invitation.

The selections will probably also announced concurrently on the NCAA.com website. I know last week the full Division II playoff field was posted on the site by 5:15 PM ET (15 minutes after the 1 hour streamed selection show started).

This sounds similar to what would happen at Villanova if the Wildcats get a first round bye and host a second round game on Saturday 12/6. Villanova is playing its annual Holy War men's basketball game against Philadelphia Big Five rival St. Joseph's next door to Villanova Stadium at the Pavilion at 1 PM on 12/6. I strongly suspect Villanova, if they do receive a top 8 seed, will want to schedule the football game at 3:30 PM or 4 PM to avoid a schedule conflict with the sold out basketball game.
