Good morning and welcome to another beautiful I-AA Saturday!

The playoffs are coming, the playoffs are coming! This is the next to last week of the I-AA regular season for those with stakes in the playoffs meaning the games are getting bigger and the stakes are high!

Big games this week...

• Massachusetts (8-1) vs. No. 19 Maine (6-3) - Starting early, we alerady have our first big game on the day. UMass is looking at wrapping up themselves a seed in the I-AA playoffs. A win here would get them even closer from not having any worries. For Maine, they are trying to win their first game in Amherst since '96 and moving into a tie with UMass for the A10 Northern Division lead. In addition, Maine needs wins this week against UMass and next against UNH to pick up their seventh Div I wins. They'll be hard-pressed!

• 5. North Dakota State (8-1) vs. No. 9 Cal Poly (6-3) - Always seems to be a big matchup in the GWFC each week. This game will go a long way in determing the GWFC champion. A NDSU win would give them a chance to win the title against archrival SDSU at home next week. A loss and it opens the door for Cal Poly to start talking about a possible GWFC title. Cal Poly is not only fighting for the GWFC prize, they need a win this week and next to get into the playoffs.

• 12. Northern Iowa (6-3) at No. 14 Southern Illinois (6-3) - Nothing like a Gateway battle! These teams have had the home team win an astounding nine years in a row! UNI has a tough road from here, but with two wins can sew up the Gateway's auto bid, just a year after playing for a national title. The Salukis are no stranger to the playoffs either. However, a loss would end any chances of a 4th consecutive playoff berth. It'll be a big test for both squads with a playoff-like feel.

Safe travels to all those traveling around the country to and from games. Good luck to all those involved!
