Seems like a lot of schools are adding "video boards".

NDSU has had them for a while but it seems like a lot of I-AA schools are getting them or will get them.

I think they make a nice addition as well as letting fans see replays.

Only problem is, most schools can't seem to do good job with it.

SMU, UT, and SFA have videoboards, but their content and performances suck. All they do is replays and advertisements.

This is our first year, but we are building ours up at Sam Houston. Its getting better and better. We have real content to go along with the replays.

Our one year old scoreboard. Didn't get used much last season with the problems in the aftermath of Hurricane Rita.

Yale's scoreboard dates from the '50's. Hell, if a fire hadn't burned down the old pressbox in the '80's, the original one would probably still be there. Change does not come easy in the Ivies as most of us know.

We have four videoboards (one in each corner) and two full scoreboards (one on each end). Here's some pics that show most of that setup:

This pic shows the setup on the north end and northeast corner:

This pic shows the southwest corner video board (with new Mountain Dew ad):

The setup is the same around the stadium.

NDSU also has the smaller stat boards which show rushing yards, passing yards, total yards, sacks, turnovers and some other stat I believe. One of these 4 stat boards can be seen in the upper right corner of the first picture above.

Who needs change when you've got THE Yale Bowl? I mean, it's THE Yale Bowl! Why change it? It's all about history and tradition. A game at THE Yale Bowl SHOULD take you back to the 1950's or 1910's or 1880's - much better times for college football, before it was corrupted for the Almighty Dollar and the Almighty TV Ratings. The whole point of going to a place like THE Yale Bowl is to be transported back to better days.

I agree to a certain extent. I think you can modernize in certain areas and still keep that feeling that you are in a historic stadium. After all, if they didn't modernize a little, they would still have those old fashioned goalposts you see from the '50's and '60's. H

Do you know if they are going to leave the old one in place so they have two. There were always seats that had no view of the scoreboard, not even counting the people who had the scoreboard behind them. One at each end would be nice.

Yes, it is indeed true that the purpose of a university is not to supplement sports, it is there for education purposes. But one would think otherwise if they went to UM where football is pretty much all there is.:smiley_wi (all in good fun)

Thanks for clearing that up, I never get over to the back side, don't park in boulder field and never noticed that it was a wildcat, always thought it was a left over radio station ad, Shark 105.3 or something like that. Needless to say time for an update like the rest the of the place
