Nova @ Richmond - Should be an exciting game, but I think Robertson is able to give nightmares to the Spiders.

URI @ Delaware - O/U 10,000 attendance at the game. Don't want to pick the Hens to lose it though.

W&M @ JMU - Tribe bounced back today, while Dukes seemed to have to escape Charlotte.

Elon @ Towson - I want to pick the Phoenix in one, and Towson is deserving of that type of loss.

Albany @ UNH - Closer than would have thought in preseason, too much Wildcats though.

Rhode Island @ Delaware- If UD loses this game, The Hen House board will go apocolyptic. The Blue Chickens.
William & Mary @ James Madison- The most interesting game of the week. If Vad Lee is on, JMU takes it. JMU.
Elon @ Towson- Yawn...should be a doozy of a display. Towson
Albany @ New Hampshire. Would love the upset but, the Danes are not quite ready for prime-time yet. I'd happily like to get this pick wrong. UNH

Villanova 31, Richmond 27 - Richmond had New Hampshire on the ropes earlier this year at home. I think they will make it tough on Villanova as well. The Wildcats have yet to score less than 35 against FCS competition this year. I think Villanova holds a tough Richmond time.
Delaware 27, Rhode Island 14 - Delaware gets back on track after a couple of tough losses.
James Madison 24, William & Mary 20 - I will take the home team winning a tight battle here.
Towson 23, Elon 17 - I am scared of these games against Elon and Rhode Island. Those two teams have to turn on Towson's game film and think we can win this. The Tigers will do enough to win this, but I don't really have much confidence in the offense this year.
New Hampshire 30, Albany 17 - Stony Brook showed this is a beatable New Hampshire squad, but I am not sure there is a team remaining on the Wildcats' schedule who will beat them. If this was in Albany I might have New Hampshire on upset watch.

I'm giving the edge to the home team (UR & JMU) for these two games. The weather forecast is for much colder temps and rain for Saturday and turnover(s) could be a factor in the outcome.

hey Melloware, i had to delete my post since none of my buttons (reply, edit, etc.) seem to work while i'm at my work computer. it's really, really irritating.

so i'm only changing my prediction for the UR game, and i'll do that in the post below. just wanted to make sure you see this post. thought i'd give you a heads up to keep the calculations accurate.

#2 Villanova@ #8 Richmond - UPDATED PICK - i had previously picked UR over Nova 45-42. that was before i found out about the weather forecast and UR's issues on 3rd downs since Strauss went out. found a little nugget about what i believe is an important stat, 3rd down conversion percentage: with Strauss, UR was converting 66.3% of their 3rd downs which is an absolutely crazy number. since Rocco took over in the Albany game (and i'm including Rocco's stats from that game), UR is converting 38.2% on 3rd down. still a good number, but that's against two ATROCIOUS teams and the Albany game was well in hand when Rocco went in. now they have to play the #7 ranked 3rd down D in Nova, and relying on the run won't get it done because Nova only allows about 3 yards per carry. this is a bad matchup for UR because i doubt the running game is going to work against Nova. changing my pick to Nova 28, UR 17. and yes, i realize that would be a season-low for UR.

Rhode Island @ Delaware - duh. UD's not having their best year but URI is just a mess. UD 24-14.

#19 William & Mary @ James Madison- i'm mildly surprised so few people are picking JMU [edit: had a few more JMU picks since i originally posted that]. think this will be close, but it's JMU's Homecoming... coming off a win where we played the first half without our All-American (i think?) safety in Marlowe who was suspended for a half due to a TERRIBLE targeting call. Marlowe was playing in the slot (WHY???) for "most" of the season until the coaches finally put him back at his natural safety position... against Towson. fantastic CB Moreland also missed a majority of the UNCC game after leaving with an injury. his status is up in the air but Marlowe will be back. status of Moreland and LB Stallings will be absolutely critical. The home team hasn't lost in this series since 2007. if JMU pulls off the upset, i'll say 35-31. i reserve the right to change this pick based on injury info for Stallings and Moreland [edit: Moreland and Stallings are "fine", according to Withers. both are slated to play on Saturday].

Elon @ Towson- i don't think Towson is good, but i also don't think the JMU game was indicative of their skill. that game just got away from them. they're better than Elon and win at home, 27-13.

Albany @ #3 New Hampshire - UNH is going to take out some aggression on Albany this week. i like UNH 42-24. that's not a knock on Albany, just think they're playing the Cats at the wrong time and on the road.

Do you guys think Rhody will ever turn around?

URI seems that it would have all the tools to compete with UNH and UMaine, they are very similar schools. I just dont get it, do recruits really like NH and Maine more thn RI or is it a case of success breeds success and losing breeds losing?

It probably deserves its own thread, but i figured it might not get any responses.

Some of it has to do with Meade Stadium, doesn't it? And the fact that RI High Schools just do not produce too many players.

UNH has had one of the worst FCS facilities over the past 30 years, shouldnt be URI's excuse.

I also dont buy the excuse that RI doesnt produce enough HS talent. NH and Maine arent Texas when it comes to HS football either.

I wont take the excuse that URI is a basketball school either. UNH and Maine are hockey schools, doesnt stop them either.

I could understand if URI was a smaller, private NE institution. However URI is is one of New Englands biggest state schools with 30k students.

Where is the issue?

No time for lengthy write-ups...

Villanova @ Richmond: No Strauss, no win. I'm actually surprised to see as many Richmond upsets as the board picked.

Rhode Island @ Delaware: Poor Rhody.

William & Mary @ James Madison: Upset pick. W&M has been thoroughly underwhelming.

Elon @ Towson: Speaking of underwhelming... it has been very depressing to watch this season after last year's, and frustrating to hear the barbs aimed at the Tigers on this board. Enjoy it now, because very soon this team will be back to the upper echelon of this conference...

Albany @ New Hampshire: UA is not there yet.
