The SoCon puts it out. Fair warning, what has been seen can not be unseen.

Regardless, SELA is still too high. SEMO being ranked behind The Tennessee State team they just beat is a bit baffling, too.

I'm not baffled by it all, other than if you get hung up on the head-to-head thing and don't take into account all factors. No disrespect meant to SEMO - they played inspired football and took advantage of opportunities on that particular night - but if we played 10 times, we'd beat them nine. That said, I wouldn't fault anyone for ranking them over us because what happens on the field has to count for something. I hope they win out and win the OVC.

Towson received one vote and Northern Arizona received three. This is embarrassing and yet many uninformed people will see this poll as the only poll. They really need to start publishing each person's ballot. Make these people more accountable for how they are voting.

Yeah, becasue that thing that happens on the field between the opening kickoff and the end of the game isn't that important. xrolleyesx

That would make too much sense. They start before the season starts now just so we can have something to argue about.

SEMO just led most of the game and had a 15 play 80 yd drive to finish and win the game. Sounds like a team outclassed. Both teams got a short TD and had 2 TOs.

This poll is a complete dumpster fire.

Yet 23 of the 25 teams in the coaches poll Top 25 are in the AGS poll Top 25. Both others are in the AGS ORV and vice versa.

It looks like the biggest "problem" (Villanova at 6 notwithstanding) with the coaches poll is that it undervalues the MVFC relative to AGS. The four teams with the greatest disparity in this direction are Indiana State, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, and Illinois State. Most overvalued relative to AGS - Chattanooga, Bethune-Cookman, Montana State, and Southeastern Louisiana.

And why do you think there is a disparity in the way the MVFC is viewed by AGS voters and the coaches poll? Baaazinga, could it possibly be due to the makeup of the voters in each poll and the slight possibility of homerism? xeyebrowx

xflaggedx

Come on M75, you've been around long enough to know that now that App St. and GSU are gone, everyone in the MVFC is infinitely better than anyone else in the country. With the possible exception being The Citadel which is far superior to to any of the teams in the yankee scum leagues. They'd prove it too, if they could ever win enough games in the vaunted SoCon to make the playoffs.

I've shown proof enough now on the fallacy of the homerism claim for the AGS Poll so you'll forgive me if I just let you be wrong on that one this time.

So, no such thing as East coast bias? Corn Country Control? Southern speed? no homerism at all? xscanx

Are you telling me you haven't seen the results I've put forth showing how each conference votes and how it relates to each other? If anything, each conference actually devalues their own teams as a rule. The MVFC voters are the only ones that actually have their teams around the same area as the rest of the pollsters do.

The homer call that some want to roll with could be applied to an individual here and there but as grouped by conferences...it's bull****. I don't know what you'd have to base it on really to make the claim except that you can see what a few voters post once in a while I guess?

The one specific reason I added the question "which conference" was so I could easily pull votes and test to see how groups are voting once in a while.

No, no, no! No East Coast bias anymore. Now it is a "Missouri Valley Conference" bias. You know it can't be because the teams are any good or won a few National Championships lately. ;)

McNeese75, you gave me the end of that chain. Is this how you do it?? :-)

I do think the AGS poll is well done even though I don't participate in it because I don't have the time to do the research to do an educated ranking of the teams.
