Tackling is discouraged apparently. MSU has decided that in order to be on EWU's level, we should have an even worse defense than them. But here are some pretty eye-popping stats from MSU's 59-56 win over SAC.

1313 yards of total offense, 115 total points.

There were 7 TDs scored in the 4th quarter, and only one of those drives lasted more than 3 minutes. In fact, only 2 TD drives in the entire game lasted more than 4 minutes, both by the Bobcats.

But the craziest stat of all, in a game with 115 total points, is that NOBODY scored in the 2nd quarter. In fact, in the first half there was a stretch of 22 minutes where neither team scored.

Sigh, we won't go far with "defense" like that.

A little offense from the Big Sky this weekend - Haley pulled some stats together (and talks about the MVFC and other notes):

The quarterback battles within two Big Sky games were incredible. In No. 2 Eastern Washington's 56-53 escape against road doormat Idaho State, the host Eagles' Vernon Adams Jr. accounted for 433 total yards and six total touchdowns and became the conference's all-time leader in career touchdown passes (99), while Idaho State's Justin Arias passed for 421 yards and six touchdowns. Not to be outdone in No. 13 Montana State' 59-56 triumph at Sacramento State (49 fourth-quarter points), the Bobcats' Dakota Prukop accounted for 488 total yards and eight total touchdowns, while Sac State's Garrett Safron had 609 total yards and threw for five touchdowns. And to think some of these QBs won't even be named Big Sky offensive player of the week.

That finish was crazy! I think Sacramento State should have just let Brekke take that last kick return all the way to the endzone. They had to know the Bobcats were going to score, although it would have been funny had the game ended on a goal line stop! This is the second time in the last three MSU/Sac matchups that took place in Sacramento where the two teams combined for over 110 points. The Bobcats won 64-61 in 2010.

Anyone remember that UNH-ODU game a couple years ago? Now that was some embarrasing defense.

Bad coaching on Sac's part

Cats were getting good returns all night
Squib kick or a pop up so someone has to fair catch on the 30 was the play

Absolutely revolting. Neither team faced a third down in that game. The Big Sky should go all in with this for other sports, and have their MBB teams be like that college in Iowa that always shoots 3's , plays no D, and averages like 150 points a game. xlolx It's like those people who like 18-16 MLB games, I just don't get it.

I cannot get over how pathetic the defense is in the big sky.
