Massey (average of 35 different rating systems) now has 8 of 10 MVFC ranked in the top 15. South Dakota (the #9 Valley team) is rated just outside the top 25 at #26, and WIU (the lowest rated MVFC school) comes in at #43.

Think the Massey average system really shows how the TSN and Coaches polls are not reflecting the true power teams in this season's FCS landscape.

If the season ended now, and they used the Massey for selection, then the MVFC would have 7 of 13 at large. plus 2 CAA, 2 Southland, 1 Big Sky, and 1 OVC.

In 2007 & 2008, the CAA had 4 of 8 at-large. I don't think anyone has had more percentagewise since.

But to achieve that at season's end, it is likely the MVFC would need 8 teams with 8 D1 wins in the top 32. How many are they likely to have?

anyone have time to figure out how many teams from the MVFC could theoretically have 8 wins?

It's theoretically possible for the top 8 teams to each finish with 8 wins if South Dakota and W Illinois lose every game except the head-to-head. More realistic case will be 6 at most and more likely 4 or 5. However, there is also a scenario where only 3 and even possibly just 2 teams get to 8 wins.

I am amazed at how much data is on Massey's site. The guy rates every team even NAIA and JCs. I would love to see how his database is set up. Just the tech nerd in me I guess :)
