With a new alternate uniform, the Penn Quakers like to think of themselves as the "Oregon of the Ivy League."

Big Green Alert had a funny comment:

Green Alert Take: It's either a generational thing or the Penn Stater in me, or probably both, but I don't quite get it ;-) I can understand liking a new uniform, but to react as if you just won the Super Bowl on a last-second field goal?

It does seem generational.....I always liked getting new unis, warm-ups etc but jumping up, whooping and hollering about them??? Um, no.

Football players whooping and hollering over a new uniform remind me a lot of the Mac dorks at an Apple product unveiling, or Star Wars dorks at a Star Wars screening. Just...what?

Union blue and confederate gray have been Georgetown's colors since the end of the Civil War. Most of the students at that time were from the South.

I'd rather fail a Quaker than quail a faker. For that matter, it's better to sheer a Quaker than it is to queer a Shaker. Just sayin' . . . xchinscratchx

Gotta agree. Men, tough men, getting all giddy over a uniform is a bit...

Well it's just sort of...

I mean I could see maybe throwing a smile and a xthumbsupx but seriously acting like ladies at a shoe sale is just...

Well, it's unbecoming.

I feel bad for the young dudes that this all seems OK now.

Those sexy bastards are gonna look damn fine in those uni's though!

Anyone want to comment on the fact that Penn actually made a video and then released it to the public featuring one of their athletes in ANOTHER SCHOOL'S GEAR??!??!?!

oh and it's ostensibly a video about how much they love penn gear yet when given the choice they wear something else

It's not that different from the recent video of Liberty's new uniforms being unveiled.

It's a generational thing which old fogies like me can't understand.

Those jerseys would look better if they would only iron them.

Neat new jersey. NDSU held a public party with a rock band for our gold jerseys. It had better attendance than a Georgia State game.

Ah yes, a nice hot iron and a wrinkled jersey (its like the beginning of a porn video for me)

I'm college-aged, but I don't get going insane over new uniforms (looking at them and being like "nice" is ok). Then again, I don't really get the need for much beyond a home and away uniform. From what I have experience in, bands only have one uniform at a time, and my athletic venture (swimming) has a minimal uniform.

I have never understood the multi uniform deal. Why people go nuts over it is nuts. The people in marketing have their number.

You know, the Penn Men's Swimming team could have a lot of fun making a parody of the football video.

Can't you just see it--the swim team captains get their speedos from the equipment manager and start doing chest bumps when the last guy gets the alternate speedos. And then they enter the team meeting room, modeling the "uniforms" for the rest of the team. And the rest of the team gets really excited--hooting, hollering, and going nuts.

Some material just writes itself.

That would be incredibly funny and put a succinct point on exactly what football players look like when acting like this.

Eastern has three different sets of uniforms this year. All-Red, All-Black, and All-White and then they sometimes mix those up. They are unveiling the white helmets for the PSU game.

And of course there were these.

It's a generational thing.

I honestly like all the different helmets and uniform combos and whatnot, but yeah, I don't think I'd have a similar reaction as some of the kids in these videos.

Thank you Sir! Totally agree with comments ..... the only thing that could justify acting like that (at least for a college boy) would be that the ladies like the uni's just as much or more so, but still no reason to act like the Black Friday crowd stampeding into Macy's....
