View Full Version : Avoid CFBDataWarehouse!!

Just a heads up, I went to cfbdatawarehouse earlier to get some football scores and almost immediately upon going to the site, the page went white and then I got a message saying my computer was locked by the FBI for downloading music/movies. I closed the web browser and because it's a desktop computer that I share, figured someone else went to a shady site earlier or that one of the music files I downloaded had some crap on it. No biggie, I figured, I'll just run malwarebytes and get rid of it.

So I restart in safe mode and start running the program and it's doing it's thing, so I grab the laptop so I can finish what I was working on. I head over to cfbdatawarehouse and BOOM! The exact same FBI has locked your computer message appears. This is a brand new laptop that I only use for work, so it's as squeaky clean as can be, and the only link is that it happened to both computers as soon as I went to cfbdatawarehouse. I'm going to email David in just a minute and let him know what happened, but I wanted to warn you guys that you may want to avoid that site for a few days.

Sounds like a malicious toolkit webhost virus has embedded itself in that website and one of its attacks is a fake FBI notice. Some of those attacks try to get the person attacked to pay a fine.

That's great if you want scores from this week...maybe last year...maybe.

If you are doing comprehensive research on a program/series there is almost nothing that beats CFBdatawarehouse.

Yep, the McAffe crap that came with this new laptop didn't block it and I got the same fake FBI page coming up wanting money when I went there. The Norton on my old laptop would block such attacks. I might boot it up and go there just for giggles.

I'll try this at my personal laptop later to see if the European antivirus solutions can block it outright (Avira or Avast).

True. I wish there was something comparable for men's or women's college basketball.

Just spoke to Dave, he confirms there is a problem at the site and it is being "scrubbed" right now. I'd give it a few hours so he has a chance to find everything and get it straightened out. Sounds like something attached itself to an advertisement.

Yeah, I had actually been on the site this morning as well with no issues, hence why I didn't put it together until it happened to the work laptop as soon as I went back to the site.

Don't buy either of that bull****. Be smart use chrome or Firefox and download adblock plus extension for either. If you are super paranoid you can get the extension called NoScript.
Windows also now comes with a good virus scanner.

Malwarebytes is a free program that is great. So is Avast

I was using Chrome with the adblock plus extension when I got hit when I went there the first time with the computer with McAfee. I got out my old laptop, updated the Norton, and went there with Chrome and Norton didn't block it either. And I have used Microsoft Security Essentials before, too. I'm not a total dumbass, so you can quit being your normal asshole self.

Wasn't trying to be an asshole. McAfee has shown false positives before and do it intentionally to keep subscribers. Wouldn't be surprised Norton did it too. I recommend using NoScript extension.

I had this a few months back from another site. I used the system restore and got rid of it that way but there are a few ways to dispose of it. This is the link I utilized to get rid of it if it is still hanging on.

Has it been fixed? I got a warning from Sophos when I went there yesterday, but I'm not getting warned now.

I'll be the first to admit I download quite a bit of music from less than reputable sites in Europe, but I only stream the moveis. xlolx
