They may not need that, but they do need to win convincingly. Brady Hoke is on the hot seat this year. The only regret I had about the 2007 game was the slide UM football took afterwards. I'm still pulling for App, and hoping UM wins out after that.

That slide had very very little, to nothing, to do with that game.

Michigan finished that season 9-4 with an Outback Bowl win over Florida (and Heisman Trophy winner Timmy Tebow)

The issue was the talent lost after that year vs talent coming back and Dick Rod.

Dick Rod could put an offense together....well, he could put a running QB in place at least....but he wouldn't even think about recruiting anyone to place defense.

Turns out you can have a top 10 offense but if your defense is 116th in the nation you aren't going to win many games and if you aren't winning games you are going to start losing recruits to Michigan State and Ohio State...which is exactly what happened.

Hoke took over a building that was on fire and then hit with napalm. His recruiting classes have been very good. The defense has been solid. The offense...well...going from Dick Rod's players to a traditional Hoke set with on OC that doesn't quite know how to use a Dick Rod style athlete is/was an issue.

I'm hopeful that Gardner is a senior, and hopefully grown the hell up with his decision making. I'm hopeful that Doug Nussmeier can figure something out with this offense. It hasn't been a talent issue the last 2 or 3 years, it's been a "I don't know what I"m doing as an OC" issue.

Oh, and all this stupid "Legacy Jersey", "Sanford Robertson Offensive Coordinator", Michigan needs to stop have Adidas doing all of this stupid **** with the uniforms, etc...

Get back to being Michigan, for chist's sake! Yost, Bo, Cirisler, etc... would all be turning over in their graves if they saw the **** going on that is right now.

I don't understand why this is amusing to you. We were in the same conference for 11 years, now all of us, including you, are in different conferences. Why shouldn't he chime in? Is this a current SoCon only thread? It was started by a SLC team's fan. Personally, I wish App well against Michigan and in the Sun Belt. I enjoyed the competition over the years between our schools and still have a bit of a gnawing in my gut that they were the only SoCon team Elon never beat. And as far as falling on your face to our bunch goes, the 42 -17 Elon win in 2009 followed by the 45-14 win in 2010 should both come close. I wish you well in the new SoCon. At least for some period of time you will have Mercer and VMI to beat up on, although I expect beating up on Mercer will be short lived.

I have a feeling the big time donors are getting sick of taking risks on coaches like Dick Rod and his system, or going back to a Michigan man who hasn't proven it on a high level.

I have a feeling the money would be there for Miles..it was there for Nussmier, it will be there for Miles.
