View Full Version : CAA Pick'em Week 1 (and season contest)

August 18th, 2014, 01:34 PM
I'm going to try to have this up each normal week shortly after the new AGS poll comes out, with what I can find/know for TV/Webstreams on the schedule. For season contest, non-conf games will be 1 pt, conf games will be 2, with number of CAA games correct as a tiebreak. All needed to participate is just enter a pick'em for a week, I'll do the work (and update standings accordingly). Now on to Week 1:

Interesting that people are predicting such a close game for Richmond at home versus Morehead St. I think the Spiders are something like 42 pt favorites, which seems excessive..

I haven't been to a 'Cuse game since 2009. Greg Paulus started against WVU, he was pulled in the 3rd. I love the Dome!

If HC-Albany was Friday night I'd consider that. As it is, I'm not "wasting" the first Saturday of the year at one game.....

Bryant @ Stony Brook - The Seawolves may surprise some people this year; I think this is a quality team.
Villanova @ Syracuse - A talented 'Nova team pulls the upset.
Delaware @ Pittsburgh - The Hens haven't looked enough like the Hens recently for me to think they can get an FBS power conference win.
James Madison @ Maryland - Ditto JMU.
William & Mary @ Virginia Tech - I am terrified of the Tribe this year, and I think a possible CAA title run starts with a low-scoring shocker in Blacksburg.
Norfolk State @ Maine - Black Bears by a bunch.
Holy Cross @ Albany - Danes open with a win at home.
Morehead State @ Richmond - Spiders will have this wrapped up by halftime.
Central Connecticut @ Towson - The new-lookTigers break out a lot of new starters, but still open with an easy win.
Elon @ Duke - Phoenix overmatched in this one.
New Hampshire @ Toledo - The Wildcats should have taken an FBS scalp last year; this year they will.

Mission accomplished.

I was at the game. Stony Brook's QB was awful, and the O-line was their 2nd-weakest position. The talent disparity was fairly large in SB's favor, they just got outplayed by an undersized team with a ton of heart. Bryant kicked two early field goals off great field position, and only scored their TD on a 4th-and-eight where their WR made a great play against very good coverage and just broke one.

So, yes, color me surprised. An awful loss for SB.
