Entering the weekend at the no. 21 slot in the Top 50 Greatest Football Players in Alcorn history is Milton "Slick" Barney. Barney played wide receiver for the Braves from 1983 to 1986. He earned the name "Slick" for his blazing speed and agility.Barney didn't see any action as a Brave until 1984 when he earned SWAC Newcomer of the Year honors and was a valuable asset to the Braves, capturing the SWAC and National Black College Championship. He caught 33 passes for 622 yards and scored a team-high seven touchdowns in the Braves 10 contests.During his junior season in 1985, Barney caught 46 passes for 686 yards and scored five touchdowns. He earned All-SWAC 2ndTeam honors at the end of the season.In Barney's final season as a Brave, he recorded 48 catches for 719 yards and scored five touchdowns. He was named to the All-SWAC 1st Team Offense.*
