The poll was released on ESPNU btw...cool to see the FCS getting some more coverage even if it was just short rundown of the poll.

Good thing the preseason poll doesn't mean much. Especially the Coach's poll. Best wishes to you guys for a successful season this year.

No issues here. I think we're a top 5 team going into the season. Anything above that's just gravy.

I expect one of the top three in this poll or UNI will end up on top in January. But it is a long season. Anything can happen. And a lot of shake ups usually do happen.

I guess I should complain about NAU being too low, out of habit.

(Shocked to see them rated at all)

I didn't realize that the coaches poll is represented by such a small sample size of the entire FCS landscape. Only 26 coaches out of over 120 voted. There were almost three times as many voters for the AGS poll. Wonder if that's part of the reason for the historically better accuracy. That being said, most of the top 25 are represented somewhere in both polls, except for NAU and Bethune-Cookman being added to the coaches poll, and SIU and Cal Poly being left out. And it appears the coaches don't hold UNI or Richmond with nearly the regard AGS does, and value Towson (who even got a 1st place vote!), SHSU, and EIU a lot higher. Interesting to see the differences.

As compared to the AGS poll...

1. North Dakota State +1
2. Eastern Washington -1
3. Southeast Louisiana
4. New Hampshire
5. Montana +2
6. Coastal Carolina +2
7. Towson (1) +6
8. Jacksonville State -2
9. McNeese State +1
10. South Dakota State -1
11. Eastern Illinois +5
12. Fordham
13. Villanova -2
14. Sam Houston State +7
15. Northern Iowa -10
16. Chattanooga -2
17. Tennessee State +2
18. Furman -3
19. Montana State +1
20. Maine +3
21. Youngstown State +3
22. William & Mary -4
23. Bethune-Cookman +5
24. Richmond -7
25. Northern Arizona +2

Probably the same guy who voted for Jacksonville ... although my hope is that it was someone who thought he was voting for Jacksonville State.

I think CCU is a bit too high. I expect them to be top 20 but not quite that high. Furman is a little too low and I would put UNI in the top 10. Would not shock me if W&M finishes a good bit higher and if SIU, Princeton, and JMU all finished ranked.

Didn't get JSU's record right (11-4 not 12-2) it is cool to see FCS on a more public scale but at the same time sad that it's just thrown together in 5 minutes

UNI at 15 seems about right to me.

BS......UNI was the best team outside of Kansas St we played last year, you return like what 90%, and still waiting on official word from Farley right?

I would have UNI top 10 closer to top 5, everyone is basing their polls on return players but seems UNI is just getting dissed IMO, maybe im totally wrong and the game you guys put up in Fargo last year was the vs #1 thing but i doubt it. MVFC will be a hell of show this year the way it looks

my god im actually advocating for UNI!!!!!

One thing I learned last year when I tried to do fair justice for the AGS poll, it takes time and research. I personally would rather my coaches be worried about the next team on the schedule and not the time it takes to do the poll. Probably why I don't freak out about the coaches poll at all....lol

It is nice to be in it though :)

Apparently school name and the record from the previous season are too many details to keep track of.

I'm thinking EIU might be overrated considering they are breaking in both a new coach and a new QB. Of course, the same could be said for the Bison.

We're breaking in a new QB too, unfortunately. But I like that three teams we beat last year are in the 10-21 range, about where I see us finishing with decent QB play and reasonable luck on o line injuries.
