Time to get the season back on track. The rain and wind would have to favor UNH. UNH ranks 33rd averaging 175 yards a game rushing, Hofstra is 119th averaging 69.1 yards a game rushing.

Big, big game for New Hampshire...can the Wildcats get back on track? This is definitely a game that is drawing the attention of many in the I-AA community...

'Cats must rediscover path to greatness, now
Next loss could end playoff hopes

DURHAM - Let the questions, skepticism and doubts fly.

The free ride for the University of New Hampshire football team is over, now that the Wildcats, once deemed the best Division I-AA team in the country, have dropped two straight games.

Gone are the happy, fluffy newspaper stories casting this team as a juggernaut. Gone is the enthusiastic buzz swirling around Durham. And, most likely, gone is the chance of hosting an NCAA playoff game come late November.

The Wildcats are now fighting for their playoff lives.

Cracks in the armor began to surface during an embarrassing 42-23 home loss to James Madison.

The cracks then turned into major tributaries as the Wildcats lost to Northeastern, a sub-.500 team, in a wild overtime affair, 36-35.

How crazy would it be if UNH missed the playoffs? I wasn't sure they'd hit one loss, let alone two.

There are quite a few teams, UNH included obviously, that will surprise us if they miss the playoffs, but there's quite a few of schools that will no longer be eligible for seven Div I wins after this week that many of us had in our top 5, top 10 heading into the season and even a week or two ago!

I think it actually hinders UNH more because a lot of the reason they are getting so many yards rushing is because Santos/Ball. Now Hofstra can play run more.

Brief tangent:

UNHWildcats, that old UNH helmet sucks! I've always hated that NH insignia, mainly because it resembles the insignia of a certain baseball team from the city you live in! [/tangent]

Sorry to say I'm listening via the web instead of watching from Cowell. I just couldn't fathom driving up to UNH this morning. Actually, the drive was more foreboding than actually standing through the game in the game and wind! That's how bad driving in the Northeast Corridor gets in bad weather!! xlolx xlolx xlolx

Probably, only about 65 miles north to Durham!

I've been channel switching between Columbia @ Yale, Lafayette @ Colgate and CCSU @ Monmouth and the scores are 3-0, 0-0 and 0-0. I heard it was URI over Maine 3-0. UNH wins 10-6!! A win is a win is a win.........

Just back from the game - awful, awful conditions. In fact, there is really no way to describe just how bad the weather was - nothing was possible through the air and the field conditions were so bad that the running backs looked likey were moving in slow motion. Forget touchdowns - first downs were a monumental battle. The wind was blowing sideways for most of the game. Punts into the wind were going nowhere, and I'm not sure that the UNH offense threw the ball in the entire second half!

I looked for you up on the rail, UNHAlum, but figured you'd be too smart to drive up here for this one! Actually, as I was hunkered down in my seat during halftime (no band, no cheerleaders), I was wondering just what possessed any of the few thousand of us or so who were there to sit through that mess.

A good win, and it makes the UMass game a real battle next week. Lets hope for better weather!

That's right - I'm pretty sure the 0-1 in the second half was a dropped swing pass to Levan on 4th down - it was eerily reminiscent of his drop against UNI in the playoffs last year. :bang:

Had he caught that pass today, he easily had the first down, and might have walked in for another TD.

Today's offense was Ward and Kackert and run the clock.

It was also interesting to watch the UNH coaching staff use their timeouts before the end of 1st and 3rd quarters to force Hofstra's offense to run as many plays as possible into the wind, rather then let them run the clock down so they could change offensive direction as the quarters transitioned.

Did Davis win the QB job today?

Not sure, they weren't very clear about it. Davis came in last week against maine and I think he was slated to be the starter this week, but there was a shoulder issue. Clarkson is very inconsistent and mistake prone, we are really hurting in the QB department. With Davis completing the 1 or 2 passes today, i wouldn't be shocked to see him start next week.
