And I thought the SoCon was having all of the fun. Now looks like they have to share with us.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference has entered into a new three-year television broadcast arrangement with the Sinclair Broadcast Group, it was announced today by Sinclair President & CEO David Smith and Big South Conference Commissioner Kyle B. Kallander. The broadcasting agreement will begin with the 2014-15 athletic season and puts the Big South on the new American Sports Network (ASN), a collegiate sports initiative to be broadcast on a number of Sinclair’s broadcast television stations.

The arrangement specifically highlights football and men’s basketball, with coverage of additional Big South sports to be announced. Sinclair will distribute these games solely located in the Conference’s footprint of Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as New Jersey (football only). In 2015, Georgia will be added for football-only distribution. Sinclair’s broadcast stations will either be carrying the games and original content as part of the primary program lineup (generally on the Company’s CW and MyNet affiliates) or as part of second channels (sub-channels of the primary station’s signal).

Remember the America Channel, or, more accurately, do you remember what was supposed to be the America Channel? Same guy.

True, but this isn't a channel but rather a network broadcasting content on existing stations. Seems like a pretty low barrier to entry. As long as they make more money than whichever reruns or XYZ infomercial they'd normally play then they should make money.

Under these agreements, Sinclair will premiere an extensive slate of live, local sporting events, including football, basketball, soccer, and other sports with the opening of this year's college football season. The initial launch will include over 50 universities and colleges.

A nice to have, but no major impact to the PL given Sinclair's eastern reach.

This seems like a step in the right direction for the Big South

So who's gonna take my wager that ABC Sports sues them for trademark/wordmark infringement?

Either them or Captain America . . . .

From what I gather so far, it will be of the most benefit to Colgate and Bucknell.

Whoo hoo picked up another game. Too bad I'll be in the wood for scoutmaster training. Is building your own satellite part of boy scout training ?
