I'm not sure if others are/were aware or not but this has been the big push over the last 2 years and it is finally coming into fruition w/ aTm Sys Brd approval.

The animation rendering isn't 100% accurate (other SWAC schools flags on campus? lol Plz xlolx ) but the initial seating capacity is(15K expandable to 30K/33K) and the look is something that is purported to be almost dead on, w/ the sq space for the field house, etc. The reason I questioned the accuracy is because the current football field will continue to have a track around it and serve as the official track/soccer complex which will border the new diggs to the SE(somewhat). FTR, myself and a few others have donated and also have been on this ship for awhile. If PVAMU officials are remotely thinking we're doing this to stay in the "SWAC," they are dead wrong. Dead f'ing wrong. PVAMU seriously needs to move forward and out to be included in the competitivity that is Texas. It's not 1931 segregated env so why continue to foster that mentality? xsmhx

@cent, I've been harping on this for the last 6+ years. The SWAC is stagnant and is just now catching up to offeratory that other FCSers have enjoyed over the last 20-25 years(facilities, athl plant upgrades, et al). The SLC is a better regional & financial fit for PVAMU.

@sax, several words: diversity, inclusion (fcs mainstream), participation, planning, metric(s) accountability, (positive) exposure, better recruiting model.

I seriously think diversification of athl support staff w/ qualified position holders, diversification of coaching staff(s), & diversification of recruits are the ultimate keys. What I find almost comical is other d-1 conferences integrated wholly but the SWAC schools appear not to have gotten the memo that integration occurred :(. I cannot speak on the MEAC position too much because certain schools have my attention for success in wait: FAMU, SCSU, NCCU, BCU, NCA&T.

Very funny. I don't understand what moving to the Southland conference would do for PV. You aren't going to see an increase in attendance and ticket sales, you aren't going to get more exposure, and you aren't going to all of a sudden turn into a powerhouse. If PV can't even dominate the "lowly and segregated" SWAC, what makes you think they are going to fair any better in another conference? PV's problems has nothing to do with SWAC membership, it is all on PV for not keeping up with even the other schools in the SWAC in terms of facilities and competition in football.

Southern's athletic teams are banned by the NCAA from postseason tournaments

All Southern University athletics programs, including the school’s first place men’s and women’s basketball teams, are currently banned from postseason play pending an NCAA investigation into the academic progress rates of student-athletes.
The ban is effective immediately, and in order to have it lifted Southern must review and resubmit all Academic Progress Rates and Graduate Success Rates to the NCAA dating to 2009. The NCAA will then either verify the data that was previously submitted or give the university an opportunity to make corrections to that data.

A routine NCAA review of Southern’s records in the fall uncovered “unusable data.” Since then the university has tried to satisfy NCAA requests for missing data.
“Since this December notification,” the statement read, “Southern’s submissions have been incomplete or inaccurate at deadline.”

Did you notice how the rendering didn't have an adjacent soccer field where the current football venue is located when it clearly showed HBT/Bdome/tennis courts/baseball field... (what happened to the river? lol xconfusedx ) and I'm not sure if the softball field was displayed. The new athl complex was approved by the aTm-Sys and part of that was the soccer/baseball/sball/tenn courts. Final locale? I'm about to join another "clique" of givers @ a certain level who are segregating themselves from the main folks, yet again. :( (PVAMU politics)
