I enjoy seeing what other school's facilities look like. Let's see what your school's facilities look like!

Looking at Washington-Grizzly Stadium, you'd never guess that Montana has one of the worst facilities in the Big Sky and probably the entire FCS. Fortunately, UM is in the process of raising donations to build a new locker/weight facility in the next couple of years.

Well, McNeese's facilities are good in some areas and just okay in others.

The newish Field House has nice new weight room, locker room, equipment room, all kinds of team meeting rooms, new ticket office, football offices etc. The stadium is still the same but has a nice new coat of paint. The baseball and softball fields are just adequate, not bad but not great. The track was resurfaced a few years back and is okay.

We are finally have raised funds to build an on campus basketball facility but that is a few years away.

I guess we aren't in too bad a shape considering all the budget cuts to higher education in Louisiana. Not bad but could be better but I don't seeing us keeping up in the future.

Based on pictures and videos I've seen, the Field House looks very nice.

For basketball, I haven't been to Burton Coliseum yet. Before I moved away from the area, I enjoyed making the trip over to Lake Charles for games at the Lake Charles Civic Center. Saw some really good basketball by both teams back then too.

I have always enjoyed the competition with our friends on the other side of the Sabine. Of course, I enjoy it more when we win. :)

Just like others don't. For example, University of Louisville doesn't highlight the plant about two blocks north of Papa John's Stadium and directly across the street from their soccer field and practice fields.

It is what it is and anyone can look it up on Google Maps. I don't have access to aerial shots other than Google Maps and other services.

Just as an added note, right across the freeway about one mile south is the site of Spindletop Field, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and listed as a National Historic Landmark.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spindletop

I also didn't highlight the Unesco International Bioreserve site (Big Thicket National Preserve) a few miles north either.

Richmond also just spent over $20 million dollars renovating the Robins Center in phases. The Center contains the Arena, locker rooms, offices, weight rooms, training facilities, and is just south of Robins Stadium.

Here is the newly renovated Arena, which seats 7,500 or so.

HOMER BRYCE STADIUM

- Built in 1973, the stadium seats about 15,000 fans, but using the surrounding grassy surface ups the capacity to nearly 25,000. Renovations in 2003 added luxury suites, an elevator, and the Touchdown Club located in the remodeled press box. In 2006 a new video board was installed. The field was replaced last year with a Hellas Matrix Turf surface. The record SFA crowd at the stadium is 23,657 set in 1999 in a game against McNeese State.

I still can't help but laugh at that great disparities between the two sides of the football stadium for YSU.

Fitton Field at Holy Cross is similar, if not worse.

Man, YSU has facilities named after all kinds of shady characters.

They haven't named anything after Jim Traficant, yet...

Good thread. We do have a fairly large stadium thread somewhere but I haven't seen that in a long time.
LOL, a Griz fan starts another FCS stadium thread ( see http://www.anygivensaturday.com/showthread.php?171-Post-your-Stadium-pics-here&highlight=stadium+thread <--- used to be pinned) and even adds in "FCS" basketball and other things in. Funny.

This is a thread about overall "FCS facilities", i.e. stadiums, locker rooms, weight rooms, etc... not just for football stadiums. Well good for you on finding an old thread that is focused on "Stadiums". Take the rest of the day off for finding it. xthumbsupx

It can host a regional (and did) but not the Frozen Four. The NCAA wanted to move the regionals off campus because it favored the host team. That's why next year it's in Fargo...but then again Notre Dame gets to host a regional, funny how the NC$$ caters to the big $$ schools even in a sport like hockey.

It is a pretty sweet deal for NDSU. Like any spring sports, it is an uphill climb for northern schools, but having awesome baseball facilities helps close the gap for the program...just wish they could play there more often! :)

The Prairie League was underfunded so badly. They would take anyone who could pay the franchise fee. The guy that brought the Varmints to GF was a retired police officer who mortgaged his house to pay for it. We almost went belly up in the first year. I was assistant GM and the only employee for about a month in the offseason. There was a semi-hostile takeover by some of the other owners - David Thompson, Bill Coutts, Jack Geller, and about 5 others all bought the team (Thompson paid me out of his own pocket for a little bit). Great bunch of people and a really fun job.

The guy that started that league was kind of a slickster who didn't have a long term plan. Damn shame.

Not gonna lie. I liked your field more than ours by a long shot. I traveled with the team for the finals. Lots of fun stories - the time I had a beer with Juan Berenguer during a rain delay under the main grandstand at Kraft Field, the huge on the field fight when the owner of the Moose Jaw franchise came on to the field and got a beer dumped on his head from above.

and my all time favorite - The time I was at the Parrot's Cay with former MLB catcher Greg Olson. I literally got to tell him to his face that the funniest thing I ever saw was the 1992 World Series when the rest of the Braves came running out on to the field at the start of the game and him hobbling along on crutches because of a collision with Ken Caminiti at the end of the season. We'd both had a few beers so it wasn't as mean as it sounds. Great guy.

More funny behind the scenes stuff. Around the office, we called that mascot "Ricky the Rat" and the owner hated it! After they got rid of him, that became the unofficial/official name.

The guy who owned Kats on Washington designed that logo with the owner who, because he wasn't a very good businessman, didn't get a release for the rights so we got into a fight with Kats after the first season over licensing etc. We even went so far as to find a new vendor and design (not as good) but at the end of the day cooler heads prevailed and we kept the logo and got a better deal for production.

Rinky dink to say the least.

After the league folded Grand Forks got into the Northwoods league in 1998 with the Channel Cats, it didn't last. I am glad Fargo has the Redhawks, they are stable and here to stay.

Bill Coutts loved that name. We almost changed to that in season 2 after the ownership change. It was a lot of the same owners.

Google has 3d mapping in a number of cities. They recently added Youngstown, OH. Here is a neat shot of Stambaugh:

ISUb reminds me of Nemzek Stadium over in Moorhead. Also, you can barely hear any crowd noise there, even if they were making it, it wasn't very loud.

Youngstown's Stambough is very much like Lafayette's Fisher Field (capacity 13,132).

Fisher definitely has a glorified HS stadium feel with the unbalanced sidelines. The physical stadium is nothing special imo. It's the surrounding buildings that makes the facility.

UNI is rolling out new turf - same system that a bunch of places use. Most notibly in the FCS is NDSU

http://unipanthers.com/news/2017/4/25/football-uni-dome-gets-new-astroturf-for-2017.aspx?path=football

The UNI-Dome will have a different look this fall with the installation of a new artificial turf surface by AstroTurf® that will feature a custom-made field design for the UNI Panthers.

The bid was awarded to AstroTurf for the project on Feb. 20. The installation process for the AstroTurf Conversion Panel System will begin May 11, 2017 with a completion date slated for mid-July. The surface will be made of PureGrass® with Armacell® pad. The surface measures over 77,000 square feet and will come in 26 rollable panels and will be secured by a Velcro® system. There will be no infill required for the new surface. The conversion time for the new turf will be eight hours to install and four hours to roll up.

"The surface you play is one of the most important elements in college football," UNI Head Football Coach Mark Farley (http://unipanthers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=583) said. "The investment in the new turf is an indication to the commitment of UNI to its student-athletes."

The total cost of the new turf will be approximately $900,000. The project is being paid for through a restricted use internal account that is available to address facility needs.

"We are pleased with the product that AstroTurf will supply for our use in the UNI-Dome," UNI Director of Athletics David Harris (http://unipanthers.com/staff.aspx?staff=221) said. First and foremost it will be a safe and playable surface for our football program and for Iowa High School state playoff games. The well-being of student-athletes is always at the forefront of our decisions at UNI."

The new surface will feature the UNI logo with an outline of the state of Iowa shaded at mid-field. The endzones will be shaded in purple and showcase a Panther head logo as well as the phrasing PANTHERS. The area outside the field and the coaching boxes will be purple.

"AstroTurf is honored to provide a removable field solution to the University of Northern Iowa. These conversion systems afford clients more utility for indoor stadia with the ability to put down and roll up an entire collegiate football field in a matter of hours," noted AstroTurf President Troy Squires.

Nice. How high are those walls around the inside of the stadium? Are they permanent or just up for safety? I ask that because if you are sitting on the hillside where the scoreboard is and you have to look at a wall that would suck.

Good eye for detail. I am not sure of the height but I believe it is permanent. It looks to be 3-4 foot tall, which will really be a problem for anyone sitting in the lower part of the berm. It appears those sitting near the top of the berm around the scoreboard will not have any problem seeing the field. Honesty, with our attendance as low as it has been the past couple of years this should not be much of a problem with 9.000 permanent seats and top of the berm space. When it gets to be a problem, seating can easily be expanded.

The capacity will be about 12,000. Here's a rendering of what'll look like when finished, also here's the cams to the construction: https://app.oxblue.com/open/acu/allcameras. The nice building facing the endzone isn't being built yet because we need more fundraising. But once it's built it'll really tie the whole stadium together very nicely I think. Hopefully once it's finished we can host some high school playoff games which should help in recruiting.

Yeah, I think it was about a year ago but probably be tough to find. Heck I don't even remember if I posted the article or just commented on attending games when the capacity was 12K and the actual butts in seats (at times) was an announced 8K etc.

it was titled something like "The history of Washighton Grizzly Stadium" or something to that effect.

Found it. Other articles and pics are listed there as other stories on it as well.

That's going to be killer!

Reminds me a lot of the stadium SIU opened in like 2010 but they did a horse shoe vs the building on the other side, which probably makes up most (maybe all/more) of that capacity difference

Since every other school is already up here might as well add these to the collection.
