Is it really exciting news, or are they just announcing that the 2020 football championship will be held at a local (non-Texas) high school in the hopes of having a full stadium.

It does not seem to involve the Heart of Dallas bowl. The prior tweet refers to that release. This may be something different.

If UMass joined up, it would allow UAB to join the West division, put C-USA football at 14 teams, evenly splitting them (while still allowing for a championship game, of course). Just sayin'.

The word "exciting" generally does not connote expansion. That usually follows with "major".

Since UMass is already in FBS, the announce before June 1 rush isn't there, especially since UMass doesn't leave the MAC until after the 2015 season.

I suspect if it were JMU we would have heard rumors of a press conference before now, although JMU would explain the timing.

C-USA is so "market crazy" they might pick UMass, but it wouldn't surprise me if they went with Georgia State.

edit: UMass and JMU twitter feeds are silent.

I suspect a less than exciting announcement.

"Conference USA has announced its preliminary television schedule for the 2014 football season. The current confirmed schedule features more than 50 games to air nationally or regionally, with additional games to be added prior to beginning of the season."

its like a nightmare version of AGS with Travis running the show

CUSA has 14 members in 2015 once Charlotte starts playing a conference schedule. They'll be at 13 this year with WKU and ODU playing their first conference schedules.

I don't see the Big XII or AAC adding anyone else in the future, so I don't see any CUSA teams leaving. Although I guess in theory UTEP or even UTSA could be targeted by the Mountain West. But I don't see them adding anyone either, unless the PAC expands (which I also don't see).
