Diontae Spencer is getting a lot of looks. Interest by the giants, jaguars, and packers. Kid ran a 4.27 40 at the pro day. He also had 14 reps on the bench press, had a 41" vertical, and 10'3" broad jump. There were 22 scouts on hand at the pro day. He pretty much stole the show here. He is projected to go anywhere between the 4th and 7th round.

Indeed, that's where this one should be and I'm gonna move it there. I realize it's not easy to change things but the NFL draft stuff and recruiting things were the exact reasons I was asked to make that new forum and since it was put to a vote by the members I'll stick with it.

I like these discussions and information and would love to see that forum grow though so I leave these "mistakes" on the FCSD board for a day or two usually...which is what I will do with this one. But, be looking for it over there after that.

CB Walt Aikend from Liberty is getting a ton of looks after the Senior Bowl and his pro day. Has had quite a few visits with NFL teams (I remember Bills, Packers, Chiefs. But there were a lot more). He got compared to Tyrann Mathieu by Mel Kiper on ESPN yesterday.

That's too bad. The Eagles suck.

Also read an article within the last week putting Furman's Dakota Dozier with the Eagles.

Dozier has steadily climbed the draft boards all off season. He's considered by some to be a 2nd and almost assuredly 3rd rounder. There are always teams looking for quality depth in the OL at that point.

I think former UCA Bear Strong Safety Jestin Love will get drafted later rounds. He's got the motor and the skills. All SLC first team, Buchannan watch list. If I remember correctly he was defensive freshman of the year in the SLC. Not sure exactly on that last one. He's currently ranked 33rd in the strong safety spot for the NFL which if the average NFL team has 5 strong safeties and double that at Linebacker, he's got a good chance to get drafted.

Garoppolo in the 2nd.

... and there he goes!

Garoppolo is the highest FCS pick this year, going to the Pats at 2nd round, #62 overall.

Who'll be next?

May 9th, 2014, 08:49 PM
Looks like I answered my own question.

Billy Turner from NDSU goes to the Dolphins, 3rd round, #67.

I think 3 or 4 FCS picks for this night alone.

Then on Day 3, I think there'll be at least 10 more.

I wonder if Jensen would switch positions. I can't see him out gunning Tannehill and Matt Moore. Denver just signed WR Greg Hardin from UND so that's 2 UND players in the AFC West...WR Weston Dressler signed with the KC Chiefs after being with Saskatchewan of the CFL for the last 6 years.

No to position switch. I think Brock has a pretty good chance to add QB depth at Miami. He won't bump Tannehill (especially in year 1), but Moore, Devlin, and Rodgers are definitely on notice.

Also keep in mind, I believe Miami will have a brand new offensive system this year...everyone is starting from square one.

Is he more of a running QB or a pocket thrower, cause Tannehill can run, and Moore is more of a pocket thrower, Devlin and Rodgers are more clipboard A and clipboard B. If Jensen is good in summer camp I can see them axing Devlin and maybe axing Rodgers in preseason if Jensen excels. I do wish him luck. To me he's not a Bison...he a Dolphin.

He's a pocket thrower that can run. :D

Seriously if he continues to improve like he has since the season ended I could see him moving into the back up role right away. He still needs to work on his progressions and stop staring down his receivers but he has all of the physical tools to be a solid NFL QB if given the chance.

Some news about Greg Hardin (UND) with the Denver Broncos
http://predominantlyorange.com/2014/05/14/2014-nfl-draft-scouting-denver-broncos-udfa-wr-greg-hardin-north-dakota/

The Broncos were in the market for a dual-threat. Someone who could come in and potentially provide some actual depth offensively as well as giving the team the spark it needed from the kick/punt return positions.

One player that was signed specifically for that purpose was UDFA WR Isaiah Burse, who we looked at in-depth and feel like has a really good shot of making this final 53-man roster thanks to his incredible versatility. However, there’s another player the Broncos picked up that shouldn’t be overlooked for kick/punt return duties, and one of the more intriguing playmakers from the small school ranks. His name is Greg Hardin, and he comes from the North Dakota Fighting Sioux football program.

One thing the Broncos need desperately is a solution at the KR/PR position. Hardin was prolific in this area as a college football player, but also displayed big time speed and playmaking ability, albeit at times against lesser competition but also against the bigger name teams North Dakota played.

Sounds like good news for NDSU's Billy Turner and Brock Jensen:
http://www.miamidolphins.com/news/article-1/Small-Schools-Have-Equalled-Big-Success-For-Dolphins/925f6522-ef15-4d47-bef0-0f843f3583f9

The Miami Dolphins drew a lot of attention during draft weekend when they selected five players from Football Championship Subdivision schools, better known as small-school prospects.

As General Manager Dennis Hickey indicated, the goal was to find quality players regardless of what school they attended. Besides, it’s not like the Dolphins haven’t had success in the past with draft picks from non-FBS schools.

The draft was a little surprising in some ways. Shelby Harris of Illinois State was the big surprise and I did not think Taliaferro would be a 4th round pick, expected 6th or 7th round, but other than that it was fairly normal.

I think Jordan Tripp was drafted too low. He should have gone in the 4th round.

The biggest surprises not drafted was Brock Coyle and Zach Kerr. Kerr went undrafted due to some off field issues.

Reports are Billy Turner is taking reps at first team Left guard in Miami, starting next to LT B. Albert.

He beat out Dallas Thomas (Tennessee) to earn the spot.
