FBS could see another school added if Eastern Kentucky gets it’s way. EKU athletic director Mark Sandy recently gave a presentation to the Faculty Senate detailing why the school should upgrade to FBS and what would be needed to for it to happen.f

And who has $$$? Students.

Ask them if they want to have nice things (FBS football). If they do, then they have to pay for it. Simple.

The Colonels should pursue it. Personally would be glad for them to go in that direction if they have a commitment to do so.
Your football attendance has been down in recent years so that might help interest. Being 20 miles away from U. of Kentucky doesn't
help but do not believe it's a game killer like some people might think.

It kind of seems that way doesn't it? I think the FCS-level is in danger of being seriously watered down soon. There really aren't too many programs left that really feel like "D1 football" left at the FCS-level east of the Mississippi.

It also waters down FBS. Many FBS schools don't feel very big time any longer.

That's actually a good point....outside of the BCS, they really don't.

I don't mean to demean the teams left in the FCS....but just from a HC perspective, we've gone from playing schools annually like UMass and UConn in the 80s to playing teams like Bryant and CCSU and it just doesn't have the same D1 feel to it.

What person in their right mind isn't looking at bettering themselves? Whether it's work, skill set, media market, team, coach, facilities, conference, division, etc, you should be wanting to be in a program that isn't content being where they are.

That said, not everyone can be in the FBS, and there are plenty of teams at the FBS level that shouldn't be in the FBS level, and some teams in the FCS level that probably shouldn't even be FCS, etc, etc.

FBS has strict and demanding minimum requirements. FCS has zero minimum requirements.

So to say that teams already in FBS shouldn't be there doesn't computer. It does absolutely make sense for FCS, though.

EKU should have made the move in the early 1990's IMO. Not enough fan support to make the move now.

FCS teams move up.
FBS level get watered down.
FBS teams create BCS league.
More FCS teams move up waters FBS down more.
BCS teams create new level leave FBS behind.
FBS becomes new FCS.

So to say that teams already in FBS shouldn't be there doesn't computer.

xlolx That is quote of the week. xthumbsupx

I just saw this.

GUYS IT DOESN'T COMPUTER! ZOMG!

Seriously Mpls, can you tell me some FBS schools that really are so amazing that they shouldn't be dropped out of the FBS? I can think of quite a few. The fact you have such a love affair with FBS though makes me believe that you think it is perfect.

Either way, it doesn't matter, you're never wrong, and anything that we say won't change your opinion.

There are plenty of teams in the FBS that shouldn't be there.
FCS has plenty of rules, so do not know where that statement came from.
What is it, Eastern Michigan averages actually about 1,500 fans attending their football games,
but have an arrangement with Pepsi to buy enough tickets every other year to get them up to 15,000
tickets sold. Every other year because you can go under the NCAA threat of doom one year before you
have to make the 15,000 by the next year.
Just one example of an FBS school that should NOT be FBS.

Eastern Michigan being FBS makes about as much sense as half of the Big Sky going FBS as a part of the Sun Belt+Idaho (that's the latest UND conspiracy theory in case you were wondering)
