Reviews appear to be mixed so far on Billy at the Senior Bowl. Sounds like scouts think he can position himself into round 2 if he can show the versatility to play both guard and tackle at the NFL level but he's struggled at tackle with some of the speed rushers he's seen so far this week leading scouts to project him as an NFL guard only. I think he's got a lot to prove still this week if he can show improvement and coachability the rest of the week.

Don't believe everything you hear and take a lot of these comments from scouts with a grain of salt. They aren't going to tip their hand.

These aren't team scouts I've been reading, they're "draft experts". And I don't pay attention to any one of them specifically because some of them are complete amateurs I'm sure who probably don't even know what they're writing but collectively between them you can get a good idea of how a player evaluates amongst his peers. The consensus from what I've read is that he can rocket up the board if he works out well and shows improvement in his pass blocking but even as a run blocking specialist at guard he's a 4th-5th round pick at lowest. Regardless he's likely going to be NDSU's highest draft pick in years but he has a chance to get up into the highest ever territory.

There are NFL scounting services. Depending on the team will depend on how many scouts they have on the payroll as opposed to using a scouting service. Then you have the talking heads.

Any team that drafts him will be getting a great player.

Miami has been taking a good look at him. They need to upgrade their whole line from what I hear so it could be a good fit for him.

That they do, the whole Ritchie Incognito thing took out 2 starters from the line and Miami never really recovered. He would be a perfect fit.

I think all of the FCS players in the Senior Bowl will be making good impressions on the scouts. For one, they have everything to gain and little to lose because of the 'smaller school' stigma that prevails in so much of the College ranks. Second, these guys are superior athletes who can definitely hang with the 'big boys', and are looking for an outlet to show their skills, and the Senior Bowl is one of the great venues to do this.
I'm a Coastal Carolina guy, and I've been telling people all season that CCU RB Taliaferro is a top notch back, and based on the reports from scouts at the game, he is getting a lot of good press with his running and blocking at practices. I wish all the FCS players the best of luck at the game.

What impressed me in this interview was Billy's ability to give clear, thoughtful responses that weren't just a few short words. That was a very easy interview for Diggy because Billy did all the work by giving 30 to 40 second relevant responses. Scouts see this and know he is a coachable kid...a 314 pound 6'6" coachable kid. Huge upside.
