FCS Coach of the Year Award Named in Honor of Roy Kidd
http://www.collegesportingnews.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1191&d=1264771706&stc=1The NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision coach of the year award presented by College Sporting News has been named in honor of the all-time winningest FCS coach, Roy Kidd from Eastern Kentucky University. Kidd finished his hall of fame career with more FCS wins than any other coach in history, with 223.

The award is given annually by CSN, the largest and oldest news service solely devoted to publishing original content and other information of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision.

Kidd was born in Corbin, Kentucky in 1931 and played quarterback at Eastern Kentucky from 1950-53. He was hired as Eastern's head football coach in 1964. In 1967, Kidd led the Colonels to the first of 16 Ohio Valley Conference titles during his tenure, as well as a victory in the Grantland Rice Bowl over Ball State.

Is there a better choice for the award name for FCS COTY? Kidd has the most FCS wins, multiple champ game appearances and wins, longevity at one school, hard as hell attitude, player and coach, hall of famer, etc. I like Erk but his time was so short, Tubby is also a good consideration.

good tribute here... http://www.anygivensaturday.com/showthread.php?111100-ROY-KIDD

I was with Coach Kidd at a tailgate and he was so congenial and approachable. Old school and so cool. And he could turn on the heat as I remember when he gave the audio quote on the old CSN WAVES program ... "hit 'em in the mouth right away and let them know they are playing EKU..."
