Gameday and Score Thread --> NDSU vs. UNH

OMG it is finally here, the last test before Frisco for these teams. On ESPN2.

Some of my last thoughts on this game are it is going to take a near miracle for the Wildcats to win. If that were to happen then this game will go down in history as the epic Bison failure. So much greatness and bluster this year and recent past for NDSU and to fall to a team that was not seeded, playing on the road in the Fdome, from the eastern CAA and never getting this far in the tournament before??? I hope that the NDSU faithful are prepared for this to happen because the result could be fugly.

That being said, NDSU will not suffer that fate. That's just my feeling and analysis. It could but will not.

Any other gameday thoughts?

I agree, no one badmouthed any national championships in this thread. I mentioned that this is the highest level of NCAA championship football. This is not to denigrate lower levels, just pointing out that this is the pinnacle. I was at the Fdome for the very first D-I game vs. Valpo, I know the fans and media there understood.

UNLV's toughest games back in the day were often against their Big West foes.
I covered Big West basketball back in those days. Outside of UC Santa Barbara, UNLV didn't have that many tough games in conference. UCSB beat the Rebels for their final loss before winning the national championship and UNLV didn't lose again until Duke stopped them in the Final Four. Familiarity in football for conferences does make for more competitive games. It is hard to scheme for teams when you have only a few days to put stuff together against someone you have never played before.

Never know how a team will respond to back-to-back tough road trips, but I like Towson today as well. They would present an interesting matchup for NDSU. Maybe the only team that could matchup physically with the Bison. Our game with them was an all-out war, and they showed better discipline than in some of their games.

Towson/NDSU would be a great match up. Although, I think NDSU would have an advantage with having a better passing game and a much better defense. Strength vs strength for sure.

EWU's defense is ranked #104 and give up 176 yards rushing/game. I'm sure West will get 25 + carries today.

Congrats to UNH for yet another trip to the playoffs, and a nice run. I did not think UNH matched up with Bison well. NDSU is old school power football, and they are packed with multiyear starters. Big and fast, meat and taters kind of team. UNH is not built that way, and were physically overmatched.

I saw both UNH and Towson live this year, and the Tigers are more "Bisonlike". Old school power football, wear the other team down. Towson is bigger and stronger on both lines. If Towson can get by EWU it will be a fun matchup to watch.

Yeah there were a couple pretty bad spots on that drive. I think they just wanted the clock to run out as fast as possible.
