Wow! Andrew Grothmann, 1st team all American fullback! Great honor for a player who is often overlooked because all he does is the dirty work. Blocking fullbacks don't get a lot of publicity. He is a beast as a lead blocker and can catch the ball when needed! Congratulations Andrew!

It's mostly numbers driven which the guys on the NDSU defensive front 7 don't have. Emmanuel leads the team in sacks and TFLs with 6.5 and 9 respectively and Olson leads the team in tackles at 79 despite missing the last 4+ games. I don't think there's much debate about NDSU's defense being the best in the FCS and I almost take pride in the fact that they do it in such a team oriented way that no one stands out statistically. In fact, Marcus Williams made this team based pretty much on reputation only if you look at his numbers.

I think Vraa deserves some mention somewhere but hard to deny Cook and Wilson. Cook is a very good player. Wilson just does everything for Princeton.

It has no relevance to me, but I find it amusing that Lehigh players continue to be overrated in post season awards. I think someone does a LOT of lobbying on their behalf. No R.J. Harris..seriously.

Yeah, I admittedly don't know a whole bunch about those two guys. Being this seems to be a stat-driven award, that was all I could really go off. Vraa doing what he does on only 59 receptions in a run-first, balanced offense is really impressive.

Robertson was hands down the best quarterback I saw this season. I'd pick Nebrich and Quinn Epperly of Princeton over the first and second teamers, too. Bennett from SLU had a pretty incredible year as well. As good as Garoppolo is, Robertson, Epperly, Nebrich and Bennett can all beat you with their feet, or their arms. You could make a case for the year that Brock Jensen had as well. This All-American team seems more stat driven than anything else, but that is what you get when administrators don't ever, or rarely, leave their offices to watch games and when most of the voters watch one game a week. You'd get a better team if we did an AGS All-American squad. At least the folks around here watch a few more (a lot more, actually) FCS games.

Actually, scouts see Kistler being one of the best o-line prospects in FCS. He was rated right at the top before the season.

Lafayette won the Patriot League title this season by beating all of them. Not only did Lafayette beat Lehigh, Bucknell and Fordham, it annihilated each of them by double digits. Even made them look silly at times. Lafayette rendered Ajala and Kurfis irrelevant; almost inept. But there's no recognition of Lafayette - not that it was deserved or expected, actually. Nor is there recognition of Colgate, the only team to beat the Pards.

The people who make these lists probably ought to watch the games or at least know something about the conferences from which they come.

The pre-season lists are usually even worse. Back in the day ASU would automatically have 8 guys on the list by default.
