Rick Comegy is out as Jackson State's head football coach. The entire coaching staff was also let go.
"We are grateful to Coach Comegy and his staff for their service to Jackson State,” JSU Athletics Director Vivian L Fuller said in a release. “We appreciate the work he has done with JSU athletics and we wish him well."
Comegy was 55-35 in eight seasons at JSU. They made their fifth appearance in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship this year. The Tigers lost to Southern, 34-27.

Sorry to learn of this. Coach Comegy spent a part of his coaching career at Colgate (on Fred Dunlap's staff, along with Dick Biddle and future NFL Head Coach Chris Palmer). Comegy was and is well regarded. He'll bounce back.

I am sure that he will land on his feet. He could wind up coaching another SWAC school. Alabama A&M recently fired their head coach, and Southern's interim head coach just interviewed at North Carolina Central. Don't know what SU wants to do.

Nah, he lost the last three SWAC Championship games he got JSU into. Just decided to move on and see if they can get someone to get them over the hump.

Exactly. Comegy was hired to return us to a perennial championship contender and win some every few years. He brought us back, but failed to win the championships. And watching his teams, you easily see that the coaching staff refuses to game plan for the opponents strengths/weaknesses.
