Cal Poly is more of a true option imo. Their QB is also rather limited in his throwing ability. MSU runs a more of spread and McGhee can pass. His receivers just weren't very good...

I could careless about Southland honestly. I don't expect them to care about us either. You know like most conferences.

So why are you so obsessed with the Big Sky?

It's not running teams, it's the type of running team. SHSU's triple option is hard to stop, unless you get 3 weeks to prep for it like NDSU. xcoffeex

We don't run the triple option. We run read option but usually with about 10 options for the qb presnap and 3 or so options post snap. The biggest difference from normal triple option is we motion a guy and he either becomes the pitch man or he stays down the line and runs by the end to block safety or linebacker. Then qb reads end to decide to give to dive or keep, then runs the typical option but with that extra blocker it leaves only one guy to take the qb or pitchman.

If a team gets a week off to prep for it then they can shut it down. If not its very difficult to stop.

The BearKats game was not that bad GSU's (and Woffords for that matter) was much better for an offense IMO.

Sure didn't look like the Sam team that got embarrassed in Conway last week. What was the difference this week? Competition? Players healthy? How's Bell? ( yes, there were lots of embarrassing games in the SLC this year ) great game Sam! Make the SLC proud!

Once again I point to the extra week (weeks in NDSU's case) to prepare takes much of the advantage for the scheme away!

Guess that is why I like what NDSU does, nothing fancy just straight forward football and the other teams have to try and stop it.

Maybe against lesser teams but any decent defense can adjust with a week of preparation. Ring your Bell a few times and it's over!xsmiley_wix

I just don't think we play well from behind. If we can make it through the first couple minutes of the 3rd quarter with the lead, we'll most likely win the game. But if we lose that lead, we're not getting it back.

Good win today Sam Houston State! It seems the rumors of Bell & Flanders being hobbled were greatly exaggerated.
That looked like the team of old, not an 8-4 squad limping into the playoffs. I may even have to rethink my bracket showing SELA beating them?

Flanders was back to full speed last week vs UCA but getting down so bad early meant he didn't get used much. I don't know if I would say bell is completely healthy but he looked alot closer than he did last week. Against UCA he was zero threat to run. This week he ran alot but you could tell a couple of the hits caused some pain. He's a tough SOB despite what the Bison say.

And to Bisonator there hasn't been a team shut our offense down in the last 3 years with only a week to prepare. We may have lost a game or 2. I believe the only team to hold us under 30 was SELA but if bell would have gotten hurt they most likely wouldn't have. We had 2 shots inside the Redzone that the freshman qb couldn't finish off.

Aka after football season is done right? Sorry that we don't sit around discussing football on a football forum when football isn't being played.

Never said he wasn't tough. That kid took a beating in both championship games. He can take some big hits I'll give him that, problem is they take their toll physically and mentally! Congrats to SHSU on the win today!

FYI Shsu had over 350 yards rushing and close to 550 total yards today. Flanders went for 150 and Keshawn hill went for a touch over 100. Bell was 20-25 (I think) for 178 and close to 50 yards rushing as well. Good day for what has been a pretty stout SUU defense.

Article was wrong...Flanders went for 176.

Had to laugh at all the folks starting to mess themselves when SH got down early. Top rated defense, huh??

Any given Saturday...good game coming in Hammond!

Shame the SLC teams have to meet this early but it's part of it...SELA, McNeese & Sam are all 3 pretty scary teams right now.
