Here at UNC because we're a transition team and are increasing our scholarships incrementaly (SP?), we've got a ton of young players. Most are under classmen. We'll have 63 scholarships next year but we'll be young for a couple more years. 54 of our 81 players under classmen.

22 True Freshmen
15 Redshirt Freshmen
17 Sophomores
11 Juniors
16 Seniors

1889 Sorry, smart ass comment, I know.

I think a better question is how young are your starters or two deep.

This week against Hofstra, Delaware will be starting...

Offense
1 Senior (TE)
3 Juniors
4 Sophomores
2 Redshirt Freshmen
1 Freshman

Defense
5 Seniors (1 T, 1 LB and both CB)
1 Junior
2 Sophomores
1 Redshirt Freshman
2 Freshmen

There are 2 more Seniors on the Two-Deep on both offense and defense, so a total of 10 Seniors. Now you know why the Hens are struggling this year.

BTW, Punter and Kicker are both Sophomores. Anyone think we're feeling pretty good about next year? :p

Montana starts 5 seniors (out of 24 starters if the kickers are included): the qb, center, d-end, d-tackle and corner.

UM has only 9 seniors on the team (excluding those who are out for the season as well as 1 former non-qualifier and non-starter who will qualify for another year if he graduates before next season). One of the 9 seniors got hurt last week, and is likely out for the season.

UM also starts 10 junior starters (12 if the kickers are included), 5 sophomores and 2 frosh.

17 Offensive and Defensive starters back in 2007, plus both kickers and both kickoff returners. We lose our punt returner. The backup QB ( a soph.) was the starter in 2005 so there is experience back there and he is much improved. There is actually a minor QB controversy between Swogger and Bergquist.

Furman has 9 seniors if I remember correctly. The scary part is I believe only 4 or 5 of them are starters.

We have many seniors on defense, but have juniors and sophs. in backup positions. We will play two deep in defense always keeping fresh players on the field.

Maine has tweaked its starting 22 a couple of times. But right now, I believe the Black Bears start just six seniors -- three each on Offense and Defense. But ... those six are keystones of the team. And I think that's a big issue.

On Offense, QB Ron Whitcomb is a senior and four-year starter, and RB Arel Gordon -- among the A10's most dangerous runners and receivers -- is also a senior. The third senior starter is guard Justin Roberts.

That's a tough trio to replace.

It's just as worrisome on the other side of the ball. All three senior starers -- NG Mike Devito, DE Matt King and SS Daren Stone -- are legitimate NFL prospects.

All the more reason for Maine to make something happen THIS season. Cosgrove could be puting himself in serious jeaopardy next year if this team limps to a 6-5 record of worse, because don't see the 2007 team being stronger next season.

We are very young at the offensive skill positions and that is why we are having trouble in the red zone. Go Eagles!!!

We have 4 SRs on offsense:

We have 6 SRs on defense:
John Hatchell(DE)
Jason Leonard(DT)

The good thing about our D is we rotate alot of players. Next season our secondary will be alittle young though.

We are very young in the sense that we don't have many seniors. We have seniors starting at DE, DT, WR, two Offensive linemen, TE(who has missed most of the year with two freshman starting), and FS. The only senior backup is an offensive lineman. So that's 8 seniors on the two deep.

Right now, this team is pretty much led by the junior class. Starters at QB, HB, FB, WR, two OL, DE, all three linebackers, CB, SS, K, and some backups as well.

At Georgetown currently there are only six seniors listed as starters for all 22 positions. If I'm not mistaken, only five started last Saturday. Freshmen and Sophomores are seeing significant time and, as Head Coaches go, he's a "Freshman" too.

The year is far from over, but I'm feeling a little optimistic about 2007.

That isn't looking good for next season. Will it be a bad rebuilding year next year like 05 was for the offense? Only time will tell.

Just to clarify the scholarships for Northern Colorado ... the Bears are currently at 57 and will be at 60 next season. They should be at 63 for 2008.

I don't know. A lot of juniors in the 2nd and 3rd spot on the depth chart.
