OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
#16 QB Brock Jensen, North Dakota State, 6-3, 225, Sr., Waupaca, Wis. (Waupaca HS)
FCS record holder with 44 career victories…League leader in total offense and passing efficiency…Ranks fourth nationally in efficiency and seventh in completion percentage…NDSU record holder with 26 TD passes this season…NDSU’s all-time leader in pass attempts, completions, yards, TD passes and total offense…Directed NDSU to come-from-behind win at Kansas State connecting on 14 of 15 passes in the second half and 7 of 7 on the final drive (18 plays, 80 yards, 8:30)…Leads the Bison with 12 rushing first downs in third-down situations…All-MVFC second team 2012.

71 tackles (42 solo), 15 TFL (80 yds), 9.0 sacks (67 yds), 1 INT, 4 BRUP, 5 QBH, 4 FF ... Nation’s active career leader in forced fumbles (13) … also ranks second in solo tackles for loss (39) and fourth in total sacks (27.0) … earned all those achievements in just three years of play … Coyotes’ all-time leader in sacks with 27.0 (all solo) … MVFC’s overall leader in forced fumbles (4), sacks (9.0) and tackles-for-loss (15.0) … finished fifth in the nation in forced fumbles, 14th in sacks and 23rd in tackles-for-loss … was USD’s second-leading tackler … had at least six tackles in each of his last eight games … had three games with two sacks … had a season-high eight tackles, two sacks and three tackles-for-loss in a win against Missouri State … got his first collegiate interception against Western Illinois … had seven tackles, a sack and forced a fumble against Youngstown State

Set a school freshman records with 192 carries, 1,094 yards and 15 touchdowns…averaged 91.2 yards per game and 5.7 per carry…had four 100-yard rushing performances, three of which were in MVFC play…had a high of 199 against Western Illinois…had 131 at South Dakota and 141 at Indiana State…in league play, rushed for 831 yards on 147 attempts and scored eight touchdowns…averaged 103.9 yards per game…had 1,585 all-purpose yards (235 on 10 kickoff returns and 20 receptions for 256 yards)…scored touchdowns in nine of 12 games.

No real shock here. I think Jensen clearly deserved this award. It's going to be interesting because I think Zenner finishes just ahead of him in the Payton voting.

Ruiz should be top 5 for the Rice while Starr top 10-12 for the Buchanan Award.

You have to feel bad for Olson getting hurt. Had he been healthy I would have to think he finishes a very close 2nd place instead of the gap there was.
