I pretty much suck at guessing these but I'll say this...week 9 looks like the closest week of the year. Really tough match-ups. Don't look now but URI looks like they're not afraid to play a little smashmouth fb.

W&M has 3 straight weeks of playing CAA teams coming off a bye. WTF?

Going with all the roadies this week. Maine could put Nova in a position similar to Richmond a few years ago when they won the 'ship. JMU & UNH really need these 'W's' for their playoff chances.

No outcomes really ever surprise me in this league. I am also terrible at picking these things anymore. My initial instinct was to think that all the road teams would win, but I know that's not going to happen.

Towson @ Richmond - Does a loss at URI mean the Spiders have mentally checked out for the season?

Delaware @ URI - I don't think URI's offense can score enough points to make this any closer than a 7-10 point win for the Hens. Probably more.

Maine @ Villanova -
Black bears are feeling pretty good about themselves. Nova can't afford another loss. I think the motivations are too high to win in the one direction.

JMU @ WM
Tribe's defense has looked pretty solid this year. JMU is without a signature win and I think the Tribe have been better tested thus far. Plus I'll give them a home field advantage (questionable as that may be when JMU comes to town). In reality, this is a toss up and I have to pick a winner.

UNH @ Stony Brook - I don't think Stony Brook has an offense that will be able to keep up with UNH.

Ugh, 1-3 last week, first losing week of the year. Was happy with the epic UNH comeback win though.

#8 Towson @ Richmond: The Spiders seem to be in free-fall after that hideous loss to URI. Tigers win handily.

Delaware @ Rhode Island: A shocking home win last week for the Rams, but despite barely surviving Albany, Delaware won't lose to an inferior team off their bye.

#11 Maine @ #18 Villanova: Huge game with major CAA title ramifications. I've been on the Maine bandwagon all year despite predicting an upset loss last week, and I think the evidence says U Maine is the better team, but I think they key here is a Villanova home loss would drop them to 4-4 and seriously put the post-season in jeopardy. As long as they don't allow Maine to get off to another quick start (the Black Bears have been the anti-Towson the last 2 weeks, building double-digit first quarter leads), they have a chance. Backs against the wall, at home, off a crushing loss, I think 'Nova finds a way.

#19 James Madison @ William & Mary: JMU's 5 wins look weaker by the day, but W&M is inept on offense. I wouldn't be surprised if the Tribe pulls one out, but I think JMU squeaks by, barely.

#20 New Hampshire @ Stony Brook: Loser is almost certainly cooked as far as playoff hopes go, so a must-win for both teams. Should be a great game, as the teams' strengths and weaknesses go against each other. SB can't score, but has a pretty good D. UNH can usually score a bunch, but until last week their D was awful. In the end, I think an underrated SB upsets UNH and keeps the flicker of another post-season berth alive.

Expecting great weather in Williamsburg, it's Homecoming, and JMU returned 200 tickets from their allotment.

I think the Pukes have had a fairly successful run of late playing down in Williamsburg. Wasn't necessarily talking just about fannies in attendance, but holding serve at the Reservation.

Good luck with it!

If from my experiences, we normally get a bunch of tickets for W&M side as well and not just our allotment. If we do not show up in full force, I will be disappointed...

43-16 Overall...

Towson 38 Richmond 17 - The Spiders are really struggling right now. Rocco in the hot seat?

Delaware 27 URI 20 - I could definitely see the Rams pulling the upset at home. Hens still the safer bet...

Maine 30 Villanova 23 - Villanova is really good but their schedule might finally catch up with them. Maine might be NDSU's #1 headache...

W&M 24 JMU 17 - I'll take the home team in what should be a great game....

UNH 30 SBU 20 - I think UNH has more weapons on offense. SBU is good but they're almost too bland for their own good sometimes....

Delaware 35 @ Rhode Island 21. Rams an antidote for frustration.

James Madison 16 @ William & Mary 13 (OT). Dukes steal one on the road.

Tribe defense rebounded well from a poor showing in Maine. JMU had one solid drive and managed 7 points...this after recovering 3 fumbles deep inside Tribe territory.

Towson ran it down Richmond's throats with Terrance West. The refs played too much of a role in this game for my tastes. Defense played better than the final score by winning the turnover battle and scoring Twice. Keep an eye out for Christian Carpenter of Towson. Kid is an underrated free safety as a Sophmore. I can't wait to see what he becomes over the next couple of years.

Reminders not needed...Not sure how you can really do what we did and come out of the game with just 7 points....If we cannot win one of our other two roadies (UNH or Towson) I think we are watching the playoffs again at home...

You guys need whatever quality wins you can get, wherever you can get them, at this point. The head to head losses to UD and WM are a big problem.

I happen to not think as much. The best W for Delaware & W&M is.... JMU. All 3 teams need a real signature win still and anything less than 3-1 will probably leave all of us at home. JMU needs those 3 wins to be Nova/ UNH & Stony Brook. A loss @ UNH could be ok if we show up and beat a 10-1 Towson @ their place to end the season...

Maybe so. It would just be illogical to think that JMU, if they had the same record at the end of the season as UD or WM, would get in before either of the two schools that beat them. And the winner of the WM/UD game will have the decisive blow in any comparative matchup of the remaining two.

Plenty of football to be played between now and any consideration of that at this point...

Agree. The only thing would be if one of them could get that big win. Same records, JMU with a win @ Towson to end the season would be the trump card. So I think we can all dream here until then!

IIRC, Maine was 8-4 that season and that extra D-I win was the committee's deciding factor despite most people feeling that W&M was the superior team. Isn't that why W&M scheduled a 12th game this season?

Completely agree, horrific officiating and a great strip of West by Richmond at the Spiders' 1 yard line as he was going in made this game look closer than it actually was. Still, it was 41-18 Tigers with 10 minutes to go, and hey, we actually won the turnover battle (3 to 4)! I thought this might have been T. Wests' most impressive game, he was absolutely unstoppable, running over and around the Spiders. A dominating performance by the O-line and the run game.

Carpenter is a sick athlete, and Donnell Lewis is pretty good too. The future is bright in the secondary.
