Central Connecticut and Wagner both notched their first conference victories with the help of this week’s NEC football honorees.* CCSU receiver Tyrell Holmes accounted for the second-highest single-game yardage total (153) in the NEC this season during his team's 38-29 win over Saint Francis. Holmes, the NEC Offensive Player of the Week, made either a first down or touchdown on all five of his catches.* Wagner lineman Fidel Okoye holds the NEC Defensive Player of the Week award after spearheading the Seahawks’ stout run defense in a 23-20 road win at previously-undefeated Sacred Heart.* The sophomore led a unit that limited the Pioneers, which entered Week 6 with the nation’s eighth-ranked rushing offense, to 113 yards on the ground.* Filling in for injured all-NEC kicker David Lopez, NEC Special Teams Player of the Week Bryan Maley nailed the tie-breaking 45-yard field goal with 00:04 remaining at Sacred Heart.* The NEC Rookie of the Week honor belongs to Saint Francis defensive back Lorenzo Jerome, who made his NEC-leading third interception of the season.
