It's not too often we get such a high marquee set of games so early in the season. This upcoming weekend is loaded with some intense matchups. Just to list a few of best ones:

#3 Northern Iowa @ #1 North Dakota State
#26 New Hampshire @ #2 Towson
#21 Lehigh @ #7 Fordham
#23 William & Mary @ #18 Villanova
#38 Jacksonville State @ #16 Tennessee-Martin
#25 Delaware @ #12 Maine
#17 McNeese State @ #19 Central Arkansas
#14 Northern Arizona @ #9 Montana State
#36 Southern Illinois @ #10 South Dakota State

Other games of relative interest in conference races include:
Portland State @ #13 Montana
Georgia Southern @ #32 Samford
Liberty @ Old Dominion
#30 North Carolina A&T @ #39 South Carolina State (SCSU's two losses are to Clemson and a 7 point loss to #8 Coastal Carolina.)

Which game will be the most exciting? Which will be the biggest disappointment? Which will be the biggest blowout? Which road team has the best chance at winning?

Will this be the most exciting week of the season?

Im really excited for the CAA matchups. Im not trying to sandbag, but the UNH/Towson game could be the biggest blowout. Obviously, the UNI/NDSU game is epic too.

Other than the playoffs, and the last weekend (because of seeding and placement implications) this could be the best weekend in FCS.

Weeks like these are what spawn the "my loss is better than your loss" arguments at the end of the season for playoffs....good stuff.

...And we are going to miss it! (Bye)

Interesting how many of the higher ranked teams are at home.

I think UNH/Towson going to be close most of the way. Of course I see the Tigers winning, but I could see a 35-24 game with the Tigers scoring a late TD to seal the win.

I would NOT want to be UCA this week. I think McNeese is going to want some blood after that drubbing at UNI.

Eh... its a tossup for me. Our lack of offense vs. the bipolar cowboys.... who knows who's coming to play...

Lets just say it's good you have them at home. It's a coin flip for me.

I think UCA is just fine being UCA. They may have looked weak on paper, so far, but this will be their first home game since August 29th. They will be very glad to be back at the friendly confines of Estes Stadium. This should be a barn burner.

Towson is angry and I would be surprised if it's still close at the halfway point of the 3rd quarter.

Aside from the ranked teams, I am also looking forward to the resumption of Harvard/Holy Cross and the first ever ranked FCS (of a team west of the Mississippi) / Ivy matchup.

What is Towson so angry about? Missing the playoffs after drubbing UNH last year? UNH may be fairly motivated as well after their upset loss last week. Whether or not they can stop Towson, well that's a different story. Really looking forward to the games this weekend, esp LU Fordham (hopefully I'll be there), NDSU/UNI and the CAA matchups.

All but 3 conferences are represented on your list here. There is some diversity with quality teams this year. This is great for the entire sub-division.

It's still early in the season, but this weekend will start to separate the contenders from the pretenders. PSU at Montana is intriguing although it could be a blowout..we will see.

This is the reason I love FCS. There are 20 games every week that have playoff implications for at large, seeding, etc. Not like the FBS where only 5 games matter.

I will be at Fordham expecting a high scoring affair. Game has been sold out since Monday. I wish FU could find a way to bring another 3,000 seats in there in the baseball outfield. Would add to the atmosphere.

I don't think McNeese has won at UCA. I'm guessing UCA by 10.

The Bison have not lost. Bigger dome, louder crowd. Line is 9 1/2 but I guess they will cover it and possibly double it.

I was going to say the same thing. While Towson got screwed out of a spot last year, it wasnt UNH's fault. IMO, UNH should be the one motivated to beat Towson because of that embarrassing throttling the Tigers gave UNH at home last year (and the year before), when UNH had a chance to clinch the CAA title for themselves.

Regardless, I think the coaching and talent disparity is enough for Towson to win big. UNH will put up some points though.

While I agree West is in class by himself, UNH has hard running backs and IF the coaches stay with what is working, rather than trying to out-think their counterparts, they have a real shot. I think UNH got 'too cute' last week by going away from moved them down the field. I am hoping the Rams' OC makes the same mistake this week.

Don't sleep on Towson's defense. We have some players on that side of the ball too.

Should be a good one. Yale has a very physical defense.
