Found this in r/cfb on reddit and thought I'd share - this basically shows the teams with the most circuitous way of saying their team is better than the best - yet still beatable - team at the moment (for this week, Stanford).

You can input any two teams and it will show, via long strings of common opponents, why team A is better than team B (and of course the reverse if you want).

A fun little thing to play around with.

I get lost in the math.

NDSU is better than K State

K State is better than Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt is better than Texas

Texas is better than NDSU

???

I think it has more to do with Texas beating Kansas State by a larger margin than NDSU

Actually the BCS formula is:
#1 spot - SEC champion
#2 spot - best SEC team not in championship game in top 5, otherwise choose team from PAC, B1G, B12, or Notre Dame with the weakest schedule.

But the logic string says NDSU is better than K State.

K State is better than Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt is better than Texas

The final conclusion contradicts the first 3.

That's because you compared NDSU to NDSU...If you wanted to compare NDSU to Texas, you would have done this: http://www.myteamisbetterthanyourteam.com/default.asp?winner=N+Dakota+St&loser=Texas&year=2013&method=2#.UkB-qawQMgc

Nope, I wanted to push the ridiculous logic to ridiculous levels. It attempted to prove NDSU was better than NDSU and contradicts itself to do so, yet it provides an error message if you try to prove other things.

Then EWU would be the obvious #1 team

Haha, that might be something SHSU and NDSU fans agree on.

Step 1: Select year 2012
Step 2: Select both NDSU and Bama
Step 3: Laugh

I should've done some explaining with this. :D

The transitive property is a general mathematical concept that states if A>B and B>C then A>C; this is a tongue-in-cheek site that abuses the transitive property by applying it to football games to help facilitate good-natured arguments between fanbases (e.g., the 24 or so steps it takes to show Howard is a better team than Sanford). By such abuse it really shows why the transitive property is just plain silly in football.

Just to get chattownmocs started, here is how the site justifies saying that UTC is better than Auburn:
