Season Record: 19-9

Towson 45 NC Central 24: Tigers continue to roll along.
Villanova 27 SBU 21: Backs against the wall and revenge on their mind gives the Wildcats the boost they need.
Northwestern 52 Maine 17: Northwestern is the real deal this year.
Delaware 31 Wagner 20: Both teams got crushed by FBS teams last week. Hens with a methodical W.
JMU 35 Charlotte 6: The Dukes have been a little inconsistent to start the year.
Richmond 21 Liberty 17: The Spiders bounce back at home.
William & Mary 30 URI 10: Could the Tribe really be returning among the nations best?
Albany 49 CCSU 31: I expect a lot of points.

: Could the Tribe really be returning among the nations best?

Honest evaluation: If we could pass for 230+ yards/game like we used to, I believe this team could be a top 5 program.

Sitting Bull

I think people, particularly on our own W&M boards, are making a bigger issue on passing than it merits or needs to be. We passed for almost 230 yards against BCS West Virginia.

Our best team, from 2009, got there because of DEFENSE. That along with a stable of quality running backs is why the Tribe in my view is over achieving right now. Pass happy teams normally don't win the CAA (ODU the possible exception). Defense wins this league and is why I think we can surprise this year.

Tribal
September 18th, 2013, 06:04 PM
Unless we start running the triple option, we need to throw for more than 142 yards if we expect to challenge for a CAA Title. Otherwise, our opponents will stack the box and our defense will have to hold our foes to under 20 points. Tre McBride and Sean Ballard are more than capable of 100+ receiving yards a game.

#3 Towson @ NC Central - Tigers roll to move to 4-0 ahead of next week's CAA opener @ Stony Brook.
#15 Stony Brook @ #20 Villanova - 3 PM - SB puts a major dent in 'Nova's playoff hopes.
Maine @ #18 (AP) Northwestern - 3:30 PM - Maine looks solid again, but NW is too deep.
Wagner @ Delaware - 6 PM - Might be closer than most would think.
Charlotte @ #17 James Madison - 6 PM - Still not sure what to make of the Dukes at this point, but Charlotte is not there yet.
Liberty @ #12 Richmond - 6 PM - Strongly considered Liberty, but I think the Spiders figure things out at home. Plus, 0-2 in 2 weeks against the Big South? I can't go there.
Rhode Island @ William & Mary - 7 PM - Tribe looks strong this year.
Central Connecticut State @ Albany - 7 PM - If Albany loses to Rhode Island...

Towson & Stony Brook as the only 2 road warriors this week. But some good OOC games to see what NCC, Wagner n Charlotte are really like. I think Maine is dead in the water against NW in the only FBS matchup...

By the way, everything went right for RI that game. Yea Albany needs to spruce up their FG O-line. There was butterflies all game because of the new stadium opening. Albany beat CCU by +25 the past 2 meetings in the NEC.

CCSU is now 3-2 vs. Albany in their past 5 meetings. UA returns to New Britain next season.

Central faces URI next week in Kingston.

"The difference is -- people think we're a CAA (Colonial Athletic Association) team," he said. "We've still got 35 scholarships among our upperclass(men). That's about what Central Connecticut has. Whereas, last week Rhode Island I think has 63 and they (Rhode Island) were a much more physical team."

We're a horrendous CAA team right now.

The issue is I don't even think we'd go .500 in the NEC right now.
