Just kicked-off in Durham, got the game on UNH TV

Go 'Gate!

UNH marches down the field, good runs early, some good passes late, TD Wildcats. They convert the 2-pt conversion

NO pass rush at all by colgate. UNH qb could eat a meal back there

Two point conversion on the opening drive. A tip o' the hat to Chip Kelly, perhaps?

TheValleyRaider
September 14th, 2013, 11:13 AM
Dylan Finelli taking the snaps for the 'Gate. Second play is picked off, UNH has the ball at the Colgate 5

Spears again, another UNH TD. Going for 2 again, it's good

Had to check on that bizarre noise I just heard outside. It was, indeed, the Fat Lady singing. This is not looking good, my brothers.

Not even seven minutes gone and UNH has two two-point conversions - is there a reason for that? Wildcat kicker injured, or is UNH taking a play from the Ohio State playbook?

TheValleyRaider
September 14th, 2013, 11:23 AM
UNH FG attempt is up and good, defense got a stop inside the 10

19-0 UNH

Ugly but not surprising....

Muffed punt by the Wildcats, suddenly Raiders have the ball inside NH territory

TheValleyRaider
September 14th, 2013, 11:34 AM
Taking advantage of the turnover, running game looked really good. Finelli with the read-option keep for the score. PAT is blocked

Yikes, kick return to the 50, then one pass for the whole thing

So, that could have gone better. Defense right now has no answer for what UNH is doing. Offense showing sparks, but it's hard to feel confident they can be consistent with a first-timer taking the snaps like this

TheValleyRaider
September 14th, 2013, 11:50 AM
UNH down the field again, Steritti (sp?) puts it in, this has gotten out of hand quickly

33-6 UNH

The margin might be surprising but this is a solid UNH team that probably should have won at Central Michigan last week.

UNH is solid but this is ridiculous. Maybe Colgate should have scheduled Michigan instead xeyebrowx

We easily should have won at central Michigan. That fumble was a kick in the jewels.

(wrong thread)

UNH just plain kicking butt - 213 yards to Colgate's 88. Only the one turnover has Colgate on the board (and Colgate has thrown two pics).

Right after another UNH TD is called back on a hold, the Raiders force a fumble and have the ball at the Wildcat 39

Word on the Voy board was sprained MCL. He's dressed on the sidelines, but I would be stunned to see him today

My goodness Colgate's defense is bad. I don't think they're bad on O (especially with a backup) but I'm surprised this team beat Lehigh last year .. McCarney being out is a big deal, but was the defense this bad last year?

Pretty much worst-case scenario for the Raiders. Gave up the quick first score, quick turnover, another quick TD, and it's 16-0 before the 3rd offensive play. Very few answers on defense right now, really no significant improvement over last season. The team has been talking in the off-season how fast the defense is, but they have not shown it this year. Offense sputtering without McCarney. Finelli may yet be a good QB, but he's in a tough spot today.

Raiders get the ball for the 2nd half, let's see if they can get a drive together and put some points on the board

We easily should have won at central Michigan. That fumble was a kick in the jewels.

That 90 something freakin' yard TD pass for CMU was an even bigger kick in the jewels, pop warner kids could have covered that debacle better.

Dalton Crosson gets his first career rushing TD (playing with Owens and Steriti out). He's a big recruit for us, could be the future in a few years.

UNH 47, Colgate 14.

So...yikes

Colgate looked overmatched for most of the game, picking up a few late scores to close the final margin to 30. Poor showing from the porous defense, and the offense struggled with Finelli at QB. Suggestions seem to be that McCarney will not be out long, but it's clear there is a drop-off at backup. Can't find any specific stats, but the passing game was nearly non-existent and there were minimal 3rd down conversions.

Bright sides? Well, a bunch of guys (including Finelli) got some playing experience, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The schedule lightens up considerably after this, with Yale up next. They need to keep their confidence up, and not let this result get them down with plenty of games to play and the full PL schedule ahead of them. Outside of Fordham (who as of writing this is beating Temple), I'm not convinced the Raiders should fear anyone in the PL

Colgate could win the PL with a 7-4 mark. Other than Lehigh, I don't see the Red Raiders worrying about the likes of Georgetown, Bucknell, Lafayette, or HC.
