Not all student-athletes who transfer do so because of dissatisfaction with playing time, academic issues or misconduct. Shane Savage left Cornell because that was his only path to another season of college football.
Savage, a receiver at the University of Richmond, spent five seasons at Cornell, and graduated with a degree in applied economics and management. But Savage, a Leesburg resident, essentially played only three seasons (2009-11) because of an injury to each knee.
