No surprises at the top with Hampton being the top dog...

I'm surprised that Prairie View A&M got no votes after their win over Southern to improve to 2-1 while an 0-3 Grambling team continues to get votes thrown at them, only six votes out of the top 10! Ridiculous...

Ooops...this whole votes/points talk for those 'also recieving votes' from the AGS poll have me so confused...

Which is funny to me considering all the 'hate' that especially Matt D, but at times the Sports Network Poll and Any Given Saturday poll tend to recieve on these boards...

For them to get so many votes is insane.

There are only 30 voters, so for them to have 31 points, that means they got votes over teams that are 2-1, thats just crazy to me

Mathematical explanation, please.

They are 6 points out of making the top 10. A 5th place vote is worth 6 points.

Where did you find that info?

Where did you find that info?

Only makes sense now when recieving a first place vote equals 10 points...

30 1st place votes x 10 = 300 points that Hampton recieved...

All the other votes for top 10 schools have to go 10 and work their way down to one...

Doesn't take a mathematical genuis! :read:

Its understood.

1. Hampton Pirates (30) 3-0 300 1

-Hampton has 300 points and all 30 first place votes, so a first place vote is worth 10 points, 2nd place(9 points), etc. That is how all polls are tabulated. In the case of a top 25, a first place vote is 25 points, a 2nd place is 24 and so on

The question I am asking is how do you know haw many voters there are? If you do know FOR SURE how many there are, then can you please share with us how many voters there are in say the AP Div. I-A Football poll?

I'm assuming that if there were 30 first place votes, then that would be 30 voters.

Obviously you think that I am wrong, so if there are more, why are there only 30 1st place votes?

There could very well be more than 30 voters...but the fact of the matter is, only 30 of the eligible voters actually took part in this past week's poll! I am sure you knew that, but I'm helping your argument. Only 30 first place votes this week means only 30 voters...

0-3 is not impressive, but you have to consider that we lost by 1 in OT to #1 ranked Hampton, By 3 in OT to #3 AAMU, and this past weekend 42-22 to CUSA's U of H who has a good team this year.
