Yes, sorry I won't be able to attend, and show Brookings hospitality to my Hammond friends. SE LA destroyed SE MO last weekend, and has really improved from a good team in the Southland last year, to be a good team nationally this year. Picking up the Oregon/Oregon St transfer QB has been good for the Lions.

According to SDSU ticket sales, this should be a 15-18K crowd to welcome the Lions north. Unfortunately, SE La wears the same John Deere combo as a team north of the Jacks.

Just like with my AGS ballot, I don't like to put too much weight on just the first week. Montana and UND were both 5-6 last year and although Montana certainly looks a lot more impressive than Wofford I have to go with GSU/WC because of the rankings of both teams.

Isn't it true that Georgia Southern is not FCS this year because they are in transition and do not qualify under NCAA rules?

They are considered FCS for the GOTW. It is true as stated above for the poll but if you'd like I'll ask citdog to change that to "except transitional teams".
