CARBONDALE -- SIU football coach Dale Lennon announced on Tuesday that junior running back Mika'il McCall has been dismissed from the team for disciplinary reasons.

McCall, who transferred to SIU from Iowa after the 2011 season, played in 12 games for the Salukis and made five starts. He rushed for 513 yards, nine touchdowns and a 3.7 yard average in his career. He had seven carries for 24 yards and a touchdown at Illinois last Saturday. McCall is the brother of former Saluki All-American track star Jeneva McCall.

"Due to team disciplinary policies, Mika'il has been dismissed from the team," Lennon said. "The focus of our team remains on our game preparation for Eastern Illinois."

Lennon said the Salukis have sufficient depth at the running back position with Ken Malcome, Tay Willis and Malcolm Agnew, who missed last week's game at Illinois with a hamstring injury.

He "transferred" from Iowa to SIU...he wasn't welcomed back at the university so he "transferred". McCall had been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules at Iowa in November of 2011. McCall didn't play the last two regular season games and didn't make the trip to Tempe for their bowl game. While the team was gone, McCall posted to his Facebook account that he was openly shopping for a new school. Lot's of rumors surrounding his departure. He had disciplinary issues at Iowa as well. It sounds as though he was told he wouldn't have a scholarship the next season and he left.

Iowa team rules that lead to a suspension? Must have been the fumble. There are no rules for off the field.
