Another great idea by the NEC front office.

From the CCSU website:

The Northeast Conference will be taking its annual preseason football coaches conference online for the first time in 2013. All seven NEC football coaches will participate in a Google Hangout on Monday, August 12, at 11 a.m. The event will be hosted by Paul Dottino who is the play-by-play voice of the NEC's football television package.

As always the NEC is looking to include fans in the event. Blue Devil fans can tweet questions for head coach Jeff McInerney to @NECFootball and add in the hashtag #NECFB. The best questions will be asked and answered on Monday's hangout.

Fans can watch the hangout live on Youtube and an archive of the event will be available on NECFrontRow.com.

The link to the live event will be posted on CCSUBlueDevils.com, @CCSUBlueDevils and the CCSU Blue Devils Facebook page on Monday morning.

Bump ... today ...

In an attempt to prepare fans and media for the NEC's 18th season on the gridiron, the conference's communications department will host a Football Head Coaches "Hangout" using Google+ on Monday, August 12 at 11:00 am EST.

The Head Coaches "Hangout" will bring the league's seven head coaches together in a virtual chat room where they'll share information on their teams as well as their outlooks for 2013. Long-time NEC football TV announcer Paul Dottino will host the Google "Hangout," which will air live, for the public to see, on the NECsports Google+ and YouTube pages.

The program will consist of three segments: No-Huddle Preview, Twitter Timeout and Coaches' Roundtable Discussion.

Fans and media can be a part of the program by tweeting questions for the coaches using the #NECFB hashtag. The best questions received prior to, and during, will make it on air.

The program will begin with the announcement of the NEC preseason poll results and the naming of the 25-member Preseason All-NEC Team. Immediately thereafter, Dottino will dive into the No-Huddle Preview.

Coaches' Roster
Marty Fine – Bryant
Jeff McInernery – Central Connecticut (@JmFireUp_)
Jerry Schmitt – Duquesne (@CoachSchmittDU)
Joe Walton – Robert Morris
Mark Nofri – Sacred Heart
Chris Villarrial – Saint Francis
Walt Hameline – Wagner

Below is a brief description on what viewers can expect in each segment.

No-Huddle Preview
Following the announcement of the preseason poll results, Dottino will introduce each of the seven head coaches and each will provide a brief outlook for his team.

Twitter Timeout
Following the No-Huddle Preview, we will take some "time out" to address media/fan questions that were posed on Twitter and the NEC's other social media platforms. If you have a question, tweet it using the #NECFB hashtag and you may watch Paul Dottino read the query live on-air.

Coaches' Roundtable
Dottino will facilitate a roundtable discussion between the coaches on a number of "big-picture" topics related to NEC football. The topics will be generated by fan and media questions that were tweeted using #NECFB hashtag.

If you can't follow along live, there is no need to worry. The "Hangout" will be archived and uploaded to the NEC Front Row database for immediate viewing.

Anyone going to ask them how they plan to keep the conference moving forward with two of its strongest programs leaving and URI not coming in?

The OOC scheduling this year is a clear step backwards. Mostly out of necessity, but is it really going to be any different?

The conference went from banning Sub DI games two years ago to having members schedule Division III games this year.
