Ahmad Avery

Avery played in all 10 contests with one start in 2012, seeing action both at running back and on special teams. He carries twice for four yards, caught five passes for 34 yards and made one tackle. Avergy caught three passes for 18 yards against Dartmouth and hauled in a pair of passes for 16 yards against Ivy champ Penn, including an 11-yard catch. Avery saw action in eight contests in 2011, running 27 times for 101 yards and a touchdown. He carried five times for 31 yards against Yale in his first collegiate contests, then carried 20 times for 62 yards in the team's final three games. He ran for his first career score in the season finale against Penn. A power back who hits the hole hard, he is also shifty enough to break tackles at the point of contact. Avery will attempt to grab hold of the starting position in 2013.

At La Habra HS
Avery was a member of four league, city and sectional championship teams with a cumulative 49-6 record at La Habra HS. A National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award winner, Avery was named one of the top 100 players in Orange County prior to his senior season by OCVarsity.com. As a junior, Avery averaged 11.2 yards per carry and rushed for 560 yards and eight scores while splitting carries with a BYU recruit. He also caught seven passes for 60 yards.
