Coach Mangurian on Andrew Dobitsch: Should compete at the slot position for playing time. Flashes short area quickness and change of direction. Hands need to be more consistent. Taylor Engstrom

Engstrom has moved around from fullback to linebacker and now to the defensive line to find a spot for him on the field. Engstrom played in one game as a junior in 2012 after earning his first varsity letter in 2011. He played in seven contests, primarily on special teams, as a sophomore. He recorded five tackles, including two stops and a fumble recovery in the win over Columbia. He also returned a pair of short kickoffs for a total of 26 yards. Engstrom spent his freshman campaign on the scout team.

At Ithaca
The team’s leading tackler and sack artist as a senior at Ithaca HS, Engstrom was a two-year captain. He was selected to compete in the Ernie Davis Senior All-Star Classic after earning consecutive first-team all-league honors. The three-year starter and letter winner was a member of the Ithaca Journal’s Elite 24 football team and to WBNG-TV’s all-section team in his final season. Engstrom also played lacrosse for Ithaca HS, helping the team to the state championship game as a junior.
