The Wilson uniforms they had in the early 2000's were a lot closer to GB than the Nike's they have now. Those are based on the design Missouri debuted in the mid 2000's.

We're due for something new.

Say what you will, the Furman unis have a classic look. Their road whites are some of my favorites in the FCS. I mean, alternatively, we could go with the rare combination of blue and white or black and gold. I mean, those are novel color schemes. :)

Joking aside, I'd vote for GSU in a popular vote on uniforms. I'd vote for Citadel too (despite their incessant need to change their helmet every other year). I agree with you. Few other logos in FCS football are directly tied to one university. Frankly, there's no other college sports team in the country that has anything like it. Add to it that Furman has been sporting that logo since at least, I think, the 1960s.

Oddly enough, you will on occasion see that logo pop up at local high schools (and even NC State for a while). More often than not, when you see that logo anywhere, someone associated with that program has a direct tie to Furman University.

I have always liked the uniforms, though. I mean, it is pretty infantile to critique a uniform or school because folks associate those colors with something completely unassociated with the school. No one discusses purple with regard to TCU or the Minnesota Vikings. I love that Furman has a simple stated look and have kept black out of their football uniforms (black, blue, and red in college football has become nauseatingly common). The all white uniforms with white helmets looks good on every team that sports it (Texas, Auburn, Furman, etc.).

July 11th will be the reveal of the new UA uni's and helmets. Ash described the unis as "pretty simple." The helmets will have the new M on them and will rotate a new matte blue helmet.

Early reports on the uniforms is that we are going the same route that Airzona is going this year, but with out color scheme and maybe not as much gradient fading.

The uniforms are just speculation based on rumors the athletic department hinted at earlier this year. It hasn't been announced if we are getting new uniforms this season - or waiting until next season when Nike rolls out their "newest line up" of uniform styles. Most UNI fans want to wait for next year. We always seem to be about 8 years behind on uniform styles.

I loved it...most fans under about 45 loved it as well. White helmet, purple top, white pants would be killer at home and all white or purple pants on the road.

Problem we are running into is that UNI stopped using white in about 1999 for pretty much anything. We used black accents almost like it was a primary color for 12-14 years. The older fans in our fan base are used to that and only want to see that. I hate the black look....

Instead of the original flying gopher head (what I call the panther coming off of the back of the helmet...and the current flying gopher head is our current logo as that is what it looks like) I'd like to see us go back to the NI logo in purple and old gold

ACU colors are purple and white. Teams with black uniforms whose traditional school colors do not include black should be automatically disqualified, including my own alma mater.

Oh, and speaking of disqualification: no school with a field painted hideous colors should be considered, no matter how great the uniforms. What were you UCA folks thinking?

Honestly, I think UNI should go to a white helmet. Then again...I'm a sucker for white helmets. I'd have the logo matte if doing a matte finish on the purple helmet.

The new uniforms weren't here for media day, but it came out that we are bringing black pants back, to go with our white and purple pants.





I was doing some looking at new uniforms this year around the nation....and found exactly what UNI will be using.

We will be wearing the same uniforms as West Virginia....Likely went with option number 4 on that list (which was by far the most popular choice when put on facebook)

To be completely honest, Georgia Southern, Furman, and Wofford are perfect for those who prefer classic, plain, and simple. That's what I prefer too.

App State and Citadel are more geared to those who want a slightly flashy design, something you change with the times. That's why they change the uniform every couple years.

It's 2 different tastes.

As has been stated many times, they didn't even have a football for the press conference to announce the restart of the program.

So don't feel tricked. There is a long and storied tradition. Keep in mind that FCS/1-AA football didn't "start" until 1978. So GSU is only a few years younger than the division itself. :)

C'mon, J-man. GS had a program in the early days (up until 1940 I think?) so it's not as if we don't have any history. Its just that our history (of modern-era football) is rather compressed...like Cliff's notes!

OTOH - wifey and I graduated from EKU in the early-mid 80's...much preferred their uni's back then to todays. One can make the same argument about their simplicity back then to today's jumbled mess. For now, gimme (the real) GSU's blue and white all day, every day.

Good points from both of you. I do remember reading about GSU's prior history but I conveniently forgot about it when writing my post. I do have a lot of respect for GSU's program, however, and am sad that they've decided to venture off to other pastures (Notice, I didn't say "greener," but we can debate that elsewhere).

EKU-n-GSU, you and your wife sound like good people. As far as EKU's uniforms, I never know how I feel about them. I only graduated from there a couple years ago, so I haven't been tied to the program long enough to have strong feelings about their past. I liked the uniforms they had under Danny Hope, but since then, they change them every two years, which is just long enough for me to be disappointed in them, then have them grow on me, and then do it all over again. It feels like they can't decide between being more traditional or more modern and I wish they would choose. In fact, they're getting new adidas ones again this year, and, from what I've seen, they are quite plain.

It's the same Adidas Techfit uniform style we've had the last couple of years ... Northwestern State and ULM as well. Solid, classic look though not a fan of how the sleeves fit around shoulder pads ... shoulder pad flaps tend to come out and flop around.

I'm pretty sure I was wrong on what uniform UNI chose. I was trying to put 1 and 1 together...Well, the uniforms still have yet to be announced BUT a couple pictures did pop up on my twitter feed that leads me to believe that UNI didn't go with #4 like I thought.

I don't know what to think of the pants - other than I don't like the fact they put yellow on black. I HATE that, and I'm sure many UNI fans will. It is very Hawkeye in the look. **** the Hawkeyes.

Based on the pattern on the pants I think that I was wrong with thinking we were going with the WVU uniform. That digital pattern seems to match the new Arizona uniforms (the first 3 options). Really no one on facebook was a fan of that. Though, when I look at the Arizona uniform set, their pants don't include that pattern...

I would be the purple top will be white numbers outlined in yellow with the purple on the sides of the white being black with the black pants. Though I'm still confused as to the color design of the black pants and the jersey design.

I HATED black pants when we had them before. However, if you go to 56 seconds in the video you can see there is a sweet pattern on the side of the black pants, and I actually really like those. I am not sure how well they go with the white jerseys, but I do really like those pants. I am a huge fan of the new jerseys! They finally done well.
