A young defensive line prospect, Harris was off to a great start before suffering a season-ending injury after three games in 2011 before missing all of 2012. He had posted a pair of tackles, two pass breakups and a blocked kick. Harris had a tackle, blocked a pass and blocked a kick against Yale. He played in each of the team's final five games, including two starts, as a freshman defensive end in 2010. Harris earned a varsity letter after notching 14 tackles and a tackle for loss during the stretch run of the campaign. Harris posted five tackles, including one behind the line, against Dartmouth and had four stops against both Princeton and Columbia. He made his first collegiate start against the Big Green.

At St. Pius X
Harris was a first-team all-region tight end as a senior at St. Pius X Catholic HS after catching nine passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns, while also making six tackles with a fumble recovery and a pass breakup defensively. The two-year letter winner on the gridiron was a two-player of the week on offense and special teams and another time on defense. Harris was a three-year letter winner in basketball at center.
