Not going to be able to post for the whole game as I'm heading out later, but Albany seems to be taking it to Lehigh for much of the first quarter and a half...

Score is 8-7 Albany after an 8 minute drive that was almost entirely on the ground was capped off with a field goal (34 yards).

Lehigh's TD is on a fumble recovery for a TD on Albany's first snap of the game.

Albany has another FG (37 yards) and a safety (obviously)...

Hopefully this is one of those games where the underdog gives it their all but can only pull off FG's. Then the coach of the favorite goes into halftime, says "we're getting outplayed, but we're only down 4", makes some adjustments and they romp...

This is one of those games I am just realizing why I can't coach anymore...I WOULD KILL MY WHOLE SECONDARY.

Threatt was stopped and the secondary stopped playing giving him the oppty to make that nice pass to set up the TD.

Bottom line...UA is proving it belongs...even with the weather. Our QB killed us early on. Truly...this score should be 14-7 Albany.

Threatt looks like he is ready to go...and for Albany, nice to finally find a kicker.

I would agree, however I think this Lehigh team was stronger than last year's 'Gate team, on paper, to start the year.

No matter what, the NEC has pulled off TWO HUGE WINS over the top of the PL....CCSU and ALBANY have done what you have all asked for...BEATEN TOP LEVEL TEAMS.

Hopefully...it can continue for the NEC and the DANES! We have a ways to go.....I still think two years, but the NEC is starting to show we belong.

Congrats Danes! This is just really great for the NEC!!! As you said, this is now 2 wins over the top of the PL (Colgate and Lehigh), not just wins vs. Georgetown, Bucknell, and Fordham!!!

After the SBU game last night, this says a lot about how far the NEC has come. I am very happy for Coach Ford and his players. Let's hope Monmouth and CCSU can keep up.

Not trying to get in the way of your gloating about this game but I think Albany deserves some credit for having a very physical and solid team. Lehigh fans will be the first to admit that their team has some work to do but quite a few on this board saw some danger in this Albany team. This was a much tougher opening opponent then people gave them credit for.

You are correct. Much credit to Albany. They rose to the challenge and beat a team that, on paper, was a much better team. On the field, on 9/2/06, Albany was the better team. Congrats to Albany on an awesome win.

Nice win for the Danes today. Hard to argue that a team that rams the ball down your throat on an 8 minute drive on your homefield didn't earn the victory, so I won't even bother to try. Great win.

On a personal note: not only did they ice our kicker on the last play of the game, they iced me too. I had to leave the house after the 3rd quarter, but brought the computer with me to keep listening to the feed in the car. I was able to keep the connection through the third TO, but lost it literally as the teams came out for the actual play. By the time I got the connection back, the Albany announcers were doing their recap.

Looks like the at large bid hopes are out the window...

Well, this is my first post on here since Lehigh's heartbreaking loss to Lafayette last season. I waited nine long months to wipe the taste out of my mouth from that loss, and I never could have imagined that the season would start like this. First off, Coach Coen cannot be blamed for this loss. The players play the game and there was nothing he did that swung the game in Albany's favor. I also feel that you can not definitively judge Lehigh as a team from this one game. If they come out and beat Villanova next week, then maybe they will rebound like Colgate did last year after the CCSU debacle. Maybe this was the kick in the pants that Lehigh needed to wake them up and realize that they have a lot more work to do. Congrats to Albany, they outplayed Lehigh on this day. Weather was not the reason because both teams played in the same conditions. All this means for Lehigh is that at-large hopes are over. Win the PL, and we're in the playoffs.

Why not? Lembo would have been. Why does Coen get a pass?

I think the days of saying the NEC is a mid-major are over, and they're just another I-AA team who Lehigh lost to. Doesn't happen often, and I think you'll rebound just fine. :twocents:
