With two weeks to go before the season opener Sept. 9 against Arkansas-Monticello, Head Coach Todd Whitten wants his team to focus on eliminating mistakes.

"We've got to get better offensively and we can," Whitten said after an hour long, 75-play scrimmage Saturday, the second major scrimmage of preseason camp. "We had too many penalities and three turnovers. You can't do that and win.

"Last year, we played well at home but struggled on the road. To win on the road, you have to take care of the little things."

A bright spot for the Sam Houston offense, however, was the play of running back D. D. Terry. The senior linebacker who moved to running back this fall, scored two touchdowns including a 45-yard run. Terry also is an all-conference sprinter on Sam Houston's league champion men's track and field team.
