I need a fact check on Youngstown State's history as a I-AA vs. I-A opponents. I have the Penguins as becoming I-AA in 1981. I have them as 19-19-1 against I-A opponents 1981-2004. I have the average score as a 21-21 tie (to the nearest whole point for each side). I have them as 2-2 against Cincinnatti.

I am counting Florida International 2004 and Akron 1987 as I-As. I know FIU was transitional last year and 1987 is the first year I have Akron listed as a I-A on a site that also lists FIU as I-A for 2004.

How does that compare to what is known by Youngstown State fans and any others who might want to offer corraboration?

You have too much time on your hands. The last numbers I saw was YSU had a 19-17-1 record vs. I-A. Don't know about points and I'm too lazy for that nonsense.

so do NDSU/SDSU etc only count as IAA members after our "probation" is up?

It is somewhat behind for the last year, but accurate other than that.

I'm posting partially to move this one closer to the top so I can readily find it when I get home today and partially to say that when I get home I'm going to post what I have in terms of game results so people can verify or correct it.

I just went to this web site:

http://www.jhowell.net/cf/scores/byName.htm (http://)

and checked all the scores in my list above. The benefit of doing that is that the web site only includes scores involving I-A teams. Everything matched my list above except that this web site had Cincinnatti beating the Penguins by 57-3 in 1982 rather than 52-3.

The 52-3 and the rest of the list above came from this web site:

http://michigan-football.com/ncaa/ncaa_1aa.htm (http://)

So I've cross checked two web sites and feel confident that the results in the list above are accurate (except possibly the score of that Cincinnatti game). Only concern is if I missed one or more games with I-As when I went through the first web site. That error, if it occurred, wouldn't show up when I went through the second. So what I'm looking for at this point is if there were any games between YSU and I-As that do not appear in the list above.
