I posted it a while ago (http://www.anygivensaturday.com/showthread.php?117962-Albany-Punter-quot-On-the-market-quot-for-2013-(Grad-Transfer)&highlight=layton), but a lot has changed in the last week or so.

As of Nov. 17 he was staying.....http://www.timesunion.com/sports/article/UAlbany-s-Layton-staying-put-for-punting-4045611.php
As of this morning he may be going to Temple.....

@AndrewCatalon (https://twitter.com/AndrewCatalon) Exciting time for Paul Layton. Albany's punter receiving interest from Temple, among others RT @PunterLayton (https://twitter.com/PunterLayton) Patience actually does pay off

‏@MarkSingelais (https://twitter.com/MarkSingelais)UAlbany punter Paul Layton told Bob Ford that he's been offered a full scholarship from Temple.

‏@MarkSingelais (https://twitter.com/MarkSingelais)UAlbany football coach Bob Ford to P Paul Layton: "We need to make a decision pretty quickly. Are you with us or not with us?"

@AndrewSantillo (https://twitter.com/AndrewSantillo) @UAlbanyFootball (https://twitter.com/UAlbanyFootball) punter Paul Layton weighing decision to return to team or go elsewhere for 2013 season

I hope he stays (the kid has a freaking boot - long of 82 this year), but I understand wanting more exposure.

Exposure at Temple?

Well, they do open at Notre Dame next year, it's on national TV & they'll punt a lot in that game so it may make sense.... :)

The interesting thing abouut punting is that its not necessarily even what happens in the games that determines whether a punter makes an NFL camp. This kid has a relatively low average this year (41 yrd per kick) but he's had a ton of pooch punts and punts inside the 20, 10 and 5.

If you see this kid punt in practice, its unbelievable. The hang time and distance is flat out ridiculous and the NFL scouts will come to Albany or Temple or anywhere else to see that.

Valpo's punter is getting NFL interest. Granted, he had lots of practice.... The NFL will find you almost anywhere if you have pro potential.

He originally was trying to parlay this into a scholarship at a school that had a really good business school, which was smart. I don't know much about Temple's b-school.

It's good, not Penn (Wharton) good, but good.
