I'm sure they could, but they aren't risking it. If they lose this weekend, they won't be seeded.

If ODU garners a seed, the bid is of no consequence because they'll be hosting lower or unseeded teams and traveling against higher seeded teams.

ODU is GOOD on offense, and they play at a fast pace that wears down defenses- especially those that don't have depth on the d-line.

Their defense isn't all that great but has seemed to get stops when they needed to- especially late in games.

They'll be a dangerous team in the playoffs.

Come on TPTB that oversee Division I-A football, we need a real playoff system like Division I-AA (and Division II, Division III, and NAIA) has so I can be interested in a regular season game involving two teams in which I have no rooting interest but want to watch because the game has major playoff implications.

Yep, It came down to common opponents. Nova was the only team to beat us and we played all playoff contenders in the CAA. Therefore, Nova = Auto-bid by default.
